Did anyone listen to this show yesterday? A caller called in and asked Pat Bostick if we should be worried about D'antonio, going to South Carolina because Spurrier was at gameday in Ann Arbour, etc. I expected Pat to tell him there was nothing to worry about, but Pat instead paused and said we should worry about this year and be excited. It kind of caught me off guard and made me wonder if Pat heard some smoke.

If Narduzzi goes 9-3, maybe even 8-4, he will absolutely be sought after. Shouldn't he be?

I do think we'd pay to keep him and I dont see a destination job opening up. I mean if Texas offers, ok, but they wouldn't. He aint going to South Carolina or Illinois or some like that.

This early, I think we'd only lose him to MSU or a blue blood like OSU, Florida, Bama, Texas, USC, places like that and they either won't have openings or won't hire him.

News flash, there will always be a better job out there, always fear of him going elsewhere.. All jobs are stepping stones, even elite programs lose their coaches to better jobs, like the NFL. Carroll was on top of the college coaching world at USC and left to go pro.. Bama and LSU lost their coaches, there is always something else out there. No need to waste time worrying about it, absolutely nothing we can do about it. It's like worrying about a comet hitting earth or solar flare ups knocking out our electrical grid..

Basically Bostick is saying that when you have a successful coach, his name is always going to pop up, there may be a job one day he wants to take, and if he is successful, enjoy it. But it doesn't mean he is going anywhere anytime soon.

Dixon's name comes up every single year for job openings that are considered better than Pitt. He hasn't left.

There is no smoke. Just enjoy this. Narduzzi may be here 1 year, he may be here 25 years. Who knows. My guess is he is here for a while longer.

Stupid post.. If there is any inside info on this, pat bostick isn't going to have it.. move along..

Narduzzi spent a long time at MSU before choosing to be a head coach at a program to his liking. He just is not a job jumper like some other coaches we know. Chryst was always all Wisconsin, he was born and raised there, went to school there and coached there. Duzz's situation with MSU is not the same thing. And anyway, like Chryst, he ain't leaving after one year.

Spot on. Totally different than Chryst, a Wisconsin native and grad. Narduzzi has said himself Pittsburgh is the closest big-time team to Youngstown. I'm a little worried still about MSU, but once the players he coached are gone maybe he won't still follow them so closely as he implies now? Other than that though, I don't even know if he will seriously consider leaving for anywhere else. Money of course can change anything, but I can't see us rolling over dead and allowing him to leave, he will be offered a lot of money to stay here for a long time if he keeps it up.

If they're doing a review halfway through year 1, he gets an A++.

Okay, we have a "like" button, when is RIVALS going to add the "dislike" button?

Lol Tim Benz facetiously claiming Narduzzi to Southern Cal rumors this morning. I think he's just hoping Cuse keeps it close.

The better questions is, why would Dantonio leave MSU? Better weather and what else? The answer: he wouldn't. It would be a stepdown. He is also one of the highest paid coaches in the country.

If Dantonio did leave MSU sometime in the future (not this year), no question MSU would go all out after Narduzzi (assuming he continues to succeed here), and no question Narduzzi would be very, very interested.

You guys aren't seriously falling for this obvious troll.....right?

I think Dantonio has said something like 5 more years maybe? It's his health more than anything. If that weren't the case I'd agree 100%, no reason for him to leave. There is absolutely no chance of Dantonio taking another job though. It's just gonna come down to how soon he retires.

Troll or no troll...it doesn't matter. Would you rather have a safe coach that only one other school covets or would you rather have a coach that has other big time programs are coveting? If Pitt keeps winning, other schools will do their best to pry Narduzzi away. It is up to the AD & Pitt to make sure that this doesn't happen.

South Carolina is a pretty damn good gig. They will easily pay $4 to $5 mil with a few rounds at Augusta thrown in there every year. They also have a very supportive fanbase that doesn't have crazy expectations.

Yes there is good fan base and money, but can you realistically win a championship there. I think most top coaches want a chance for a championship, Holtz couldnt get them close and the Old Ball coach could not get a QB there like he could at Florida.

Well, it would be a little harder at SC than some other SEC schools, but I think its possible. Funny thing, when I lived just outside Knoxville, there was a local UT beat writer that also had a radio show. His name was Mike Griffith and he was also a Michigan State grad. He constantly trashed the Spartans and talk about how bad their facilities were and how it was impossible to win there. Come to think of it, I think he returned to East Lansing and is now covering the Spartans. I need to look that up. I enjoyed his work. He's also covered the Alabama market and he's a huge NASCAR fan and Cincinnati Bengal fan. Go figure.

I'm a little surprised RichRod is still a hot name.

Wait Dixons name still comes up? For where, Geneva?
And here's the problem with the fanbase....never knowing who they have....

Id like to see Pitt have some consistancy with BBall assistants....Dixon is obviously a great coach....and somehow that fact gets recognised everywhere outside of Pittsburgh.

A team can compete for a NC when they have a coach capable of doing that. Narduzzi makes Pitt capable of winning a NC one day. Could be very far in the future or not so much, that is yet to be determined. But we now have state of the art facilities and he is using that to his advantage in recruiting. So with our facilities we have more to offer than most schools do to a head coach. Some places are harder to win than others, but ultimately it's the head coach. He's in a good spot at Pitt and I think he realizes that.
