Just saw Royce Parham (North Hills) put Pitt in his top 4 with Marquette, State Penn and Xavier... Thoughts?

Pass. Send him to Duquesne for 2 years. This is the perfect example of the type of kid (outside Top 100) that a P6 cannot afford to offer. Needs to prove his worth at a high major or mid-major league.

The only caveat is if he helps land Thomas from LP since he plays with his brother at NH.

his top 4 are all P6 offers

He's going to PSU.

How else can you explain having them in a top four without a coach?

If he doesn't commit to Pitt out of high school he'll be going in the portal after a year or two. If we need him at that point we can get him.

If this kid isnt ready to play major minutes as a frosh, I dont know why you'd offer him. He is going to transfer after a couple years anyway. Everybody does. The only HS kids you should offer are ones you think can play a big role for the next season. There's no more development or wait your turn. They can develop somewhere else and get them in the portal.

Royce is a very good player. Shaka has been in to see him multiple times. This isn't a kid you turn away. Definitely a take for Pitt if he wants to come.

Is North Hills that bad that his team cant advance far in the playoffs with this supposed P6, contribute from Day 1 talent?

He’s #68 player composite in the country FWIW. I dont think he should go HM unless it’s to Marquette. All others are a bad fit for him

I’ve seen him twice and neither time was I terribly impressed. That said, I think he is absolutely a take for Pitt if he wants to come here. To me, he fits completely in that category of players after the top 75 or so who may or may not turn into very good players. He’s got some tools and size but you can just never know until they are a couple of years in.

But to me, it does matter if he’s local, and let’s take the local guys who might be players. He’s not a reach by any means - just not a sure thing. But isn’t this true of any top 100-200 player?

High major

G6
High major (A10, American, MW, WCC)
Mid-major
Low major

Parham belongs in the A10 or American and when he's ready for major minutes, he can portal. If this were 5 years ago, I say offer him without a doubt. Not anymore. I'l take a 22 year old from Morehead St who averaged 15. It is clear as day that those mid-major older dudes are better than all but the most elite freshmen.

You absolutely take a player like Omier over Parham if given a choice in today’s climate.

The Spanish twins would like to have a word with you.

It would be wise to at least see Parham in a few EYBL sessions before suggesting how good he is or isnt and what level he should play, especially when he has his fair share of power 6 offers already. He was decent last year in the EYBL.

Also, lets remember that Parham is also quite young for his recruiting class and may not be done growing either. And third, let's also remember that our 2 stud freshmen in Carrington and Lowe both really got it going after the 2nd session of the EYBL last year. Lets see how Parham does this summer before making hard conclusions just yet. He will be teamed up with Cummings.

Is the Mountain West a mid-major league?

How about the American?
Yes and yes.

There are outliers in those leagues that spend close to the bottom of the ACC, SEC etc. but if the whole league isn’t invested it’s not a high major.

No one else in the world uses your descriptors. Just like everything else, you come up with your own stuff and try to make it happen. It ain’t gonna happen
