Parker Stewart transferring to his 4th school

Just another reason to not watch college basketball now. It's mired in garbage and a cesspool. Pitt is no better than anyone else and worse than most. With a coach that lacks results and loses players as a habit, he can't even cheat and make something out of it. Maybe the players are seeing through Capel's lies and line of BS.

Stewart and all of these habitual transfers are just a symptom of the underlying problem. It's not the players' faults. The NCAA, coaches and AD's need to look in the mirror.

It seems like 10 years since he was at Pitt. Not against the portal but it certainly has changed the recruiting landscape!

I am at the point that I may or may not watch the final 4.
The NCAA is a complete joke allowing kids to practically move to a different school every year.

Parker’s first coach at Pitt got fired, his second coach (his dad) died, and his third coach at Indiana got fired after he committed there. He’s the worst example you could possibly use for criticizing the transfer portal.

Yeah
plenty of circumstances which are unusual

I wish him health and happiness as a matter of general feeling for all, but as a player, who cares if Parker Stewart plays for 10 teams in five years, he is a zero.

I forgot that there were games last night. I found out when I was flipping channels and they were recapping the UNC-Duke game. My wife and I were watching an American Idol re-run. That's how much I care about these games and college basketball now.

So the game is more important than people. Got it. Maybe in terms of a game, you can call it great. But it's just a game that kids are playing, that's all it is. It's entertainment for those who choose to watch it. I doubt very much I missed much.

This may surprise you, but there were more people not watching the game than watching it. And most people didn't even know it was on. Surprise!

I somewhat disagree.

I used to love the college game and would watch games religiously. Other than a few kids going straight to the NBA and some one and done's you knew quite a few returning players from opposing teams. Now with this portal, these rosters are changing pretty much on a day to day basis. I mean you have kids 3-4 games into the season putting their name in the portal. Come on, this is a joke. The coaches, AD's and whoever else needs to sit down and re-think all this.

This is where I'm at. I'm disappointed that I'm just not interested in this any longer. The coaches, administrations and the NCAA have ruined the game. I can watch the games but realize how transient and artificial any of this is now. No continuity, no substance. I do miss being interested in the NCAAT and for that matter Pitt basketball. But every year, the players are different on practically every team. No identity. Next year's Pitt team, other than maybe 2 or 3 players, will be entirely different than this year's team, and not because of graduation or losing eligibility. That's nuts!

Most follow college team sports for the laundry for sure. A lot likely can’t name more than a couple players; some may not even know the head coaches names.
But many fans do want familiarity with players and coaches to build a mental bond. Otherwise it’s just a bunch of strangers who happen to be wearing blue shirts.

I remember in Walt Harris’ years s as football coach when he would swap the quarterbacks nearly every possession. It frustrated several fans around me in our section. Not because the gimmick didn’t work (though it usually didn’t), but some fans really were bothered at the loss of continuity at that key position.

College sports has been tough enough with players only having a 3 or 4 season maximum at a school before eligibility ran out, and with coaches frequently swapping out. A couple transfers were tolerable (especially if they made big impact). But for it to be such a wholesale thing now for so many teams is a threat to popularity.

Yep. They should do I time free transfer and do away with the graduate rule.

take some ownership of your career and situation… but the third school should be a level down or sit a year out
I prefer getting rid of the one-time free transfer but keeping the free graduate rule in place.

These kids need to learn about decision making early in life instead of focusing on announcing on Twitter or Tick Tok their initial list, their cut list, their decision, their transfer and thank you then their announcement to a new school just to receive Likes.

I sure hope the NCAA looks at the one-time free transfer rule shortly and changes it. I won’t hold my breath that the rule gets reversed.

If you care so little about college basketball, why do you waste so much time talking about it on a college bball message board? I'm sure there's an american idol social media platform that would be glad to have your input.

I hate the graduate transfer rule too. Graduate programs are 2 years. Sit a year and focus on grad school. This is a billion dollar business that is turning into youth rec sports where every year, kids get placed on different random teams
