Pass Interference calls should be reviewed I think

I've been thinking about this for awhile and we've been on both ends of it this season, getting calls our way vs Clemson and calls against us (VT) but it seems like the referrees miss that call more than any other.

Ohio State won a National.Championship on a terrible PI call and will make the CFP mostly due to 2 calls in their favor against Michigan.

I think maybe there should be a rule where a coach gets 1 PI challenge per game. These plays are just as big as fumbles a lot of times.

Weak weak weak. Seems you just want a new game to be plated. You want the calls to be right but only one challenge when there are multiple bad PI calls every game. Why challenge this one when there might be a more critical time later. Your position is ridiculous. Why not review the holding calls Tons of them missed a game. Why aren't they important to the outcome. Seems you just want attention Sorry I gave it to you.

Yes, if you are going to start reviewing PI then why not review everything? I mean, the refs often miss holdings, call offsides when it should be a false start, etc... I think replay is fine the way it is.

I thought it was odd enough they reviewed 12 men on the field yesterday. Technically that is a penalty, so why is that allowed to be reviewed? Two Notre Dame players with the same number was not reviewable though?

They will never allow challenging penalties to become a thing. Vegas would have a fit.

Fantastic idea imho

They started review so a bad call won't affect the game. There are still a lot of outcomes decided by bad calls or lack there of. The no PI against Notre Dame and then the two number 2's not called comes to mind. It seems this year the PI calls have been the worst since I can remember.

If you want to use reviews to limit the mistakes, then yes review everything. If you think that would take to long, then don't use review at all.

I have been saying that for a while. The PIs are the worst of the "judgment" calls and the calls and non calls have helped teams win and lose.

Not a bad idea but could they be used if you think the receiver was interfered or held but wasn't called? It's a grey area but that's where I see the most bad calls are, the no-calls.

Worst idea ever! I like college how every play is reviewed. Taking anything from the NFL is a BAD idea.

Stop thinking out loud

Give the guy a break. It's not the greatest idea but not horrible. I see it no different than a spot challenge. Only down side is you'll start hearing the case that holding or block in the back calls should be implemented as well.

My question would be. A coach gets 2-3 challenges per half / game. Why not allow coach to challenge any type of play ie. A fumble or a penalty? If wrong you lose the your challenge anyway.

Don't like the review if PI calls, it's a gray area judgement call on the field and will end up just being the same thing in the review booth.

What they need to do is just change/relax the rules on what is considered PI. The offensive player get away with pushing/holding more often than not but the defensive player gets called for every little bit of contact. Most of it is incidental or is being done equally by both players but the defender is always the one that is called.

I think PI calls are largely assumptions. And yeah, I am not going to do the data crunching, but I bet you would find it significantly favored by the home team on getting PI's, because I think officials unknowingly react to crowd noise.

I have no problem allowing PI being under the challenge system, the coaches still would have to be judicious in their use of the challenge, but the more things that are challengeable, the more I think refs just "guess" and wait for the replay booth to sort it out.
What I think is probably best for consistency, is to be a bit more lenient overall in battles for a ball in the air.

Pass Interference calls are becoming like the block/charge in basketball. It took years, but the NBA and college game essentially got rid of the block/charge with rules that prevent players from flopping and even trying to take charges around the basket.

I don't think there are any rules that can be put in place to limit PI decisions but the "correctness rate" on those calls and non-calls has to be the lowest.

I don't think its asking a lot for a coach to get 1 PI game challenge per game especially since college football has morphed into Arena Football. If they get the PI challenge overturned, they keep their challenge. They can have a grad assistant in the box watching the TV broadcast communiticating with the HC on whether to challenge or not.

At this point, I'm not seeing a big difference between reviewing fumbles and reviewing PI. Both amount to turnovers.

Yeah, that will stop the controversy. 10 people could look at most PI replays and come up with 10 different versions. Don't spend time thinking about things. The spontaneous stuff you come up with are maddening enough.
