I have gone back and forth with this and I truly believe if Pitt finishes the season 3-8 with a blowout loss to Clemson in the last game? Then Heather Lyke will have no choice but to fire him.

How can there be any justification to keep him at that point? Curious to see what you guys think. Yes the buyout is high BUT c'mon 3-8? There is no excuse for that. He would have to go.

If we finish 3-8 or even 5-6 Heather will be forced to have the uncomfortable conversation with Narduzzi and demand changes. If not, she needs the boot too. She needs to remember he is not her friend, he is her subordinate. COVID will be Narduzzi's 2020 get out of jail card.

Unless the team totally quits on him or there are off the field issues hes not getting fired after this year.

However the fact remains that he is now 34-32 against FBS opponents, that’s just not good enough. It’s time to forget about stability, Narduzzi has been here 6 years, which is well into the top half of the top tenured coaches, probably only 25-30 coaches have been at their position longer.

He is not the answer, I think most rational people realize that at this point.

Agreed - with what you said in mind our best hope is to get a new offensive staff in place that can maximize the skills of the players we have. The only guy I’d keep is Beatty on the offensive side of the ball and that is because he can recruit.

Surely know one can disagree with this post.

PN isn't getting fired. I see Whipple, Borbely, and Salem hitting the road if things don't turn around quickly. Whipple was just a very boring hire. The lack of OL development and poor recruiting at the TE position is inexcusable.
I have a gut feeling that offensive recruits and players 17-22 don’t exactly feel in touch with offensive philosophies dictated by an old man with grey hair who cannot use a headset.

Narduzzi may not be fired because of what many have noted, but this team is very hard to watch and there is nothing that looks encouraging. It’s still the same issues from week one in year one six years later.

Pitt needs to hire a young innovative assistant coach from the south that can recruit and score some points. And if he leaves after he resurrects their program after a few years oh well, atleast the next coach coming in with have something to work with and would just have to maintain.
As opposed to an old, stubborn coach that has been hiring old coaches with stale offensive/defensive schemes.

Pitt will not finish 3-8 don’t let your emotions from one game boil out
Is 5-6 really any better with the team Dooz supposedly had this year?

This isn’t about one game bro. First of all, this is three losses in a row, two as favorites, with a team Dooz himself had high expectations for. It’s about a clown show of penalties and mistakes every Saturday. It’s about 3 years of some of the worst offense in the P5. It’s about kicking field goals every week from inside the 10 and losing because you can’t get in the end zone with 3 downs. It’s about 6 years of not finishing games. Its about a lack of recruiting and development on one side of the ball. It’s about a pervasive lack of discipline. And most of all, it’s about this:

Career Record: 6 Years, 39-32, .549 Win% (at major schools)

Bowl Record: 4 Games, 1-3, .250 Win% (at major schools)

This right here. Nothing more needs to be said, as this is stated perfectly.

I don’t care where they come from, but there are enough resources in place right now for a good young coach to win. A 35 year old head coach who is married with 3 kids is going to do whatever it takes to win.

So if he is 36 or 37 f him? What if he is 35 but with only 1 kid because the wife has fertility issues?

Just messing with you. I need to make myself laugh or I'll go insane.

I didn’t mean the point to be literal, but Touché. ;)

Honestly surprised by all the doom and gloom on this board that this poll is that one-sided to keeping Narduzzi. Looks like the squeaky wheels post more.

I think most love the tough sack happy defense. It definitely isnt as simplistic as having a confident, cocky QB that can sling it... but that has been Pitt's problem since Marino (Palko fit the bill a bit). Is it the scheme or the QB? The O line or the the game breaking running backs? I honestly dont know, cause even when Pitt is in the middle of their awesome offense years, to me, it still doesnt feel like we have that Big Ben type guy that when we are down 4 with 2 minutes left, you just know we are going to win. Quite the opposite actually. This transcends the coaches a bit. My thought has always been, get the great D, have a decent run game, and eventually a QB will pan out to be a great leader, the odds are with us, I mean, most every other college program finds that guy, and has a magic season. We have been void of that guy.

With that, that is why I like this staff... despite the fact I dont really actually like Narduzzi, I hate the bragging, the face mask falling off, the whipple making the qbs run 3.5 miles a game back to him to call a freaking play. the time outs wasted on offense, the lack of imagination of offense, defenders not playing the ball, etc. But the dude does know defense, and no doubt he made this defense from one of the worst in the country to one of the best.

No, they dont.

They need to find a recruiter that can bring in badass road graders.

We should not change our identity. We should bring in better talent.

If our OL could knock anyone off the ball we are 6-0

Partridge - A very good assistant coach
Beatty - Good recruiter
Collins - Good recruiter
Bates - Pretty good coordinator
Whipple - Terrible OC
OL, TE, RB, LB, DB - All 5 positions are average at best. What makes those position coaches good?

I've said again and again PN should've shown Borbely and Salem the door 2 years ago! Totally inept

Pitt is getting $$$ from the ACC network and we can go out and get better assistants for the offensive side of the ball. Not too difficult but PN is a stubborn SOB.

People keep wanting us to build this consistent dominating OL, and I have to ask: what teams are doing this?

Alabama and UGA are top 2 in the 247 Talent Composite, and did anybody watch that game last night and think trench play was the difference in the game? That game was decided by:

1. Bama having a better offensive scheme compared to Kirby’s outdated ground and pound mindset.

2. Bama’s offensive skill talent.

It’s so difficult recruiting some elite OL year after year, most teams don’t try it. The game today is about being able to turn it into basketball on grass offensively. Every year we resist that, is a year we get left behind.

I feel message boards have quick knee jerk reactions and that’s why this is here, that’s fine. But when you think about it, you aren’t going to fire a guy when you know it can be worse.

I think if Heather knows someone that is dynamic and awesome and will come here, and Narduzzi isn’t winning, then of course, we improve the team. But to make change simply to change we’ve seen that show, it’s worse than what we have now. There aren’t many coaches in the ACC I’d trade for

Coved happened to every one, every school, it happened to nc state, it happened to Boston college, and also to miami, so coved is not an excuse to suck, or did it just effect Pitt
