PAT SIGNAL

Pitt doesn't seem to be anywhere near his radar of finalists, but... 4-star LB Ellis Brooks was named as the "Silent Assassin" at the Under Armour All-American game a couple weeks ago and holds a Pitt offer.

It's likely just a coincidence, as that nickname seems very common in football among defenders and even QBs, but the clues from Narduzzi make this even more fun!

While seemingly a huge long shot, now I am trying to convince myself this is plausible... it looks like he is a Steelers fan and he connected with Paris Ford at the UA game... maybe slightly possible.... please? No OV with Pitt listed, though, with several other OV's, which shoots a big hole in the theory.

Garbutt OR Proctor would be a HUGE get. I don't think there's a scale to measure how big a get Garbutt AND Proctor would be.

Proctor starts day 1 no questions asked.

I can only post on rankings because i don't have a clue on recruiting, Right now with Smith added, Pitt moved from 35th to 33rd on 247 Sports and so far added to Rivals but still at 35th with no change it was 39th a few days ago.

I'd love to get Garbutt and/or Proctor. I think we get Garbutt, but not Proctor. But I disagree with the pronouncements that either starts on day 1. I think they may both redshirt. They both have really nice potential, but they're 17 year old kids that have never seen the speed of the college game, never been faced with a college playbook, etc. People expect way too much production out of true freshman. If they come, be patient.

Proctor is not a day one starter,he has a good future but he is raw and he needs to add some muscle before he starts, you might see him rotate in an out but I can't see him day one starter unless he surprises through camp

Chris Peak did say in his "Peak's Into Pitt" Podcasts expect some nice surprises soon in January, Chris is always clam, cool, and collected on his Podcast as well as realistic and knows even more but you have to go to the Premium Boards to get the details later.

When Pat Narduzzi took the Pitt Head Coaching Job he stated unequivocally and I wish I could find the TribLive Article Quote but I can paraphrase it from memory......."No One Will Know More About Our Pitt Program Than Pitt Coaches, No One"!

Based on how Tight Lips Coach PN is on most things Pitt Football whether game Plans, Coaches Candidates, and other aspects. Fans learn only afterwards, that has been consistent and true to form attributes of Coach Narduzzi Program. Player's don't talk as well!

Did anyone think Quadree Henderson would be an Unanimous All-American in his Sophomore Year and breaking NCAA, ACC, & PITT Records as a 3 Star Recruit?

Surprises came today I expect more even tonight as it become today, just a guess!

I can't see Brightwell, Pine, Wirginis, Reynolds, McKee, Idowu, Zeise keeping Proctor off the field. The only ones with gameday experience are Wirginis blitzing on 3rd downs....Brightwell for half a season and Idowu and he's lets just say not very good.

Maybe i'm overstating how good Proctor really is, but I think he's one of the beat LB's in this class across the country. Proctor type kids go to Alabama and play...I think he can beat out what Pitt has coming back at OLB.

I made the assumption that all your reports are correct and Pugh goes to DE.

Proctor may very well end up being very good but like you stated with the players above proctor is still raw,he has a lot of talent but to some people he didn't live up to his potential his senior year like some thought he would, that's not a knock on him I just think he needs a year to get groomed,if he plays as a freshman I would hope he wins it out than just being named the starter

They may not keep him off the field, but Narduzzi will. I'm sure Proctor is a good player, no idea whether he;s the second coming of Lawrence Taylor that you're making him out to be based on nothing but his offer sheet, but I assume he's legit. that said, it's rare for a true freshman to step in at LB and play right away, rarer still for that to happen in a Narduzzi D. If you look at Duzzi historically back to his earliest MSU days he has always liked to redshirt whenever possible.

And how the hell do you know that kind of players Brightwell, Pine and McKee are? They are just getting their feet wet.

I know a lot of us are getting excited about the possibility of landing Proctor as he would be a huge addition to this class. With that being said, I think some posters should temper your expectations of his contributions just a tad. While I believe he could be all ACC caliber by his third or fourth year in the program, I don't think many see him as an instant contributor just yet. After his senior season many of the bigger schools recruiting him backed off because he didn't produce like many thought he would. Again, still would be a great add to the class but Narduzzi would still have to groom him into what he could POTENTIALLY become.

That's a surprising statement. Dude looks like a monster on these twitter pics. Maybe they are deceiving.

Yeah, that is what is happening.

McKee and zeise are complete unknowns to us fans and idowu is or should be a respectable backup, absolutely not a starting OLB on a P5 team, no if's ands or buts. Brightwell showed some promise in a game or two late last year so there is something there. So in short, yes your point is valid. Not much standing in the way for a talented incoming freshman to get an opportunity to play from day 1. starting is a bit much but if the kid is 1/2 as good as the reports say, he should be in two deep his first year here.
