PATHETIC, CAPEL!!

Oh and when they were hitting open shots he inexcusably switched to zone where they promptly hit 3 wide open shots in a row!

Some rando just shot 8-10 from three. That isn’t capel’s fault. It isnt anyone’s fault.
That is an absurd amount of 3s. Way past the point where the defense needs to focus on him. Yet he somehow kept getting shots off, despite Wake having basically no other scoring threats. They might have had the worst PG in ACC history on the court most of the second half. I mean after 4 made threes if you make sure that guy is covered at all costs, who exactly are you afraid might be left open?

Where was Horton or Nike the last 10 min when they needed a 3 or foul shooting!
Well they were down 10 and ended up getting a game winning shot so I’m not sure that not using Horton or Nike is the focus point.

Well, there was the other guy, don’t recall his name, that hit 3 or 4 there’s in a row that gave WF its first lead and continued it right up to a 7-8 pt cushion.

That Antonio guy (I think was his name), yeah. He only played 22 minutes though, for whatever reason. Massoud however was clearly their guy for one, and on top of that... we just blew a huge lead against them last season and he was their leading scorer. You’d think after that, and then him starting hot tonight and being their only sign of life early on that you would do everything you could to make sure he can’t shoot.

It’s not like this guy was out there making circus shots left and right, he was continuously wide open. Forcing guys to take open threes isn’t a good defensive strategy, hasn’t been for a long time now. There’s just no excuse to get torched by that guy getting off 10 3 point attempts yet they can somehow find a way to hold Champ to only 12 total FG attempts.

Yeah I agree with you, we left him open for those shots way too long/too many times (although there were a few tough ones he also made where he was guarded pretty good).

I was just pointing out that there was another guy that got pretty hot as well, and his streak was what ultimately put them in the lead and then up 7-8.

I agree, and really most guys that are even decent should be able to hit wide open 3s. I don’t know why Pitt made it look impossible to get a defender anywhere near a shooter tonight, I’m just saying a guy that only plays 22 minutes... ok if someone has to accidentally get left open and hit some shots I’d rather it be him.

Now the guy who played 34 minutes tonight, was basically the only threat they had last season when they erased a huge deficit, the only reason Wake wasn’t down 10 just a few minutes into the game, and then he keeps hitting them.... you have to make sure that guy is never wide open. Instead, he was basically the entire night.

That guy did not play in Wakes last 2 games.

Correct
An absolutely awful 8 minute stretch by x is the difference even despite surrendering 15 treys
That stretch by X was bad, but, after seeing Capel's postgame comments it was pretty clear he was upset with the teams toughness and intensity and especially the defense. He was very disappointed and said he hoped that the team was past these types of performances after a big win, obviously they are not and haven't turned the corner into a mature bunch.

It is kind of sad that XJ and Toney are juniors and still haven't grasped the concept that you have to bring it every game in this league if you want to be really good. By the time Capel gets through to them they will be gone from the program.

Sometimes you see guys like that in basketball.
They're not great players talent wise, but they
can shoot the lights out.
I gotta be careful with this because I'll get called
a racist or something like that. They're the guys
that'll kill you in a game of H O R S E. I call
them driveway players. They played a lot of
ball in their driveways or local playgrounds.
They aren't "city" players, but they can shoot
the J with deadly accurately. That guy you're
talking about is that kind of player. He's the
direct opposite of a player like X. He has no
where near the talent of a player like X.
He's one dimensional, but if you can get a
player to deliver that one dimension, he can
help in some instances.
Tonight's game was one of those instances.
BTW...we have nobody on our team like that.

Let’s be honest
It was because Justin was totally lost on defense on the perimeter

He’s our worst defensive player and his guy are our lunch

That our coaches didn’t adjust is on them

That guy played 25 minutes against North Carolina and 12 minutes against Virginia Tech (their last two games).

Wake played 10 guys tonight, including the guy who only played 2 minutes. All 10 of them played in each of Wake's last two games.

You are absolutely right.

I looked at Wakes last two box scores before tonight’s game. I most definitely missed it.

I even asked the Twitter account of a pSN Pitt writer if he was playing tonite.

My bad. I really thought he had been injured:
