He is on Golic and Wingo and is extremely pessimistic. He thinks they will delay and delay and delay. Says a spring season wont happen because the best players wont play.

I can see this happening but I do think the best players will play most of the season. Slipping 10 - 15 slots because someone who is playing moves past you in the draft can cost you millions of dollars. I can see the best players opting out of the bowls and BCS games though. And they will have to work the season around March Madness. Can't have Conf championships and BCS games competing with it. Even though football makes a ton more than hoops, the smaller schools need March Madness.

It will be a great opportunity for fans to explore other forms of entertainment and allow these kids to focus on academics.

i really can't see it. the peaks for texas and florida are now well into the fall. i didn't check CA but i'm sure they're in the same range. and arizona. hope i'm wrong.

Gotta wait and see but as I've posted in other threads it's hard to imagine the start of the season not being delayed right now. Camp starts in a month. Numbers are surging in many, many P5 football heavy areas.

Yes a wait and see approach but too many variables with this. Tough times and got to put things into proper perspective. A pandemic only happens every 100+ years. H2P!

I don't understand some of the "sky is falling" takes that the best players won't play in the spring because of the NFL Draft. If they move the college football season to the spring the NFL will push back the date of the draft, either due to the NFL also pushing back their season or if the NFL plays in the fall the coaches and GM's wanting to see the potential draftees play an entire season.

I agree with this.

At this point, best case scenario might be a late start and 8 game schedule and no fans.

it'd be fine. actually probably may help us: big schools would lose a bunch of players.

but the nfl isn't pushing the draft back. forget about that one. they'll have access to players and they'll take them. they won't give a hoot about college football. and neither will be the eligible players.

I don't know how the logistics of moving everything to spring work. Seems like a lot of things would have to fall in line to do that. So far as the NFL is concerned, it's likely they would put together a camp for the teams to look at prospects and play a scrimmage schedule rather than letting CFB figure it out for them. If I was a guy coming out, I'd rather do that anyway.

The starters not playing would be advantage PITT. According to this board we like to keep our best players on the bench. Maybe now we can see what Greg Cross can do.

He’s exactly right. It’ll be fall of 2021. Terrible for us Pitt fans with the defensive players that won’t be Panthers after 2020. I have a feeling we’ll be saying “what if” regarding the lost 2020 team for many years to come.
