Ped State is ranked and we are not?

Pitt allowed PSU to get back in the game with the silly mistakes and brain farts by the coaches. If we played the game as we began, we would have beaten PSU by 25, at least.

As for a rematch in a bowl game, forget it. We already have bragging rights as the best team in PA and we don't need to prove anything else with a Pitt-PSU rematch. Pitt would much prefer playing a higher profile, higher quality team in a bowl game that would give us a something going forward into next year. Besides, at least to me, PSU is irrelevant since it shouldn't even be playing football for a long time.

PSU has significantly improved on the defensive side of the ball, mostly due to two starting linebackers getting healthy again (combined for 30 tackles vs OSU in their first game back) and the young d-line showing huge progress since week 3. You certainly outplayed us earlier in the year so would love to get another shot at you in bowl game.
You do know you had both linebackers in the line up when Pitt ran for 400 yards against you?

WTF? Same record and we BEAT them!

Doesn't help Pitt when Penn State played a big home game at night on prime time. If Pitt were playing Clemson at home on Saturday, would we have been allowed to play in the evening with the Steelers playing the next day, or would it have been a noon or 3pm start with 1/3 of the audience?

Our biggest game of the season in two days and 7 of our top 10 topics on this board are discussing Ped State. C'mon, guys! We need this victory Thursday night.

We have the bragging rights. Unfortunately, with the bowl tie-ins, the Nits are going to be the team playing in the higher profile bowl against a decent opponent. This is assuming of course, that we do not win the conference.

You mean playing against Western Kentucky in the Moonshine Bowl isn't worth bragging about?

If your team is not in the playoffs, bragging about your bowl game is meaningless. B1G has better bowl tie-ins and large land grant schools that generally travel well. That's what drives bowl invites...doesn't mean their teams are better. They just make the bowl more $.

Regardless, they will have a better bowl game and better opponent.

At his point unknown and unknowable. You really are a special breed of self loathing Yinzer. Again...and I wish I could type this in big red crayon letters for you...that does not mean they are a better team than Pitt. It means the B1G has better bowl tie ins. As for who has the better team...well Pitt beat PSU and never trailed in the game for 1 second.

My original comment was sarcastic. I guess you missed that and ran with it.

There has never, ever been a restriction on what time Pitt could play on Saturday based on there being a Stiller game on Sunday. Never once, in 16 years. So why on earth would you think it would be a problem now?

You were better that day!

We ARE better and not just "that day". We proved it on the field and have been proving it on the field. Why do you nitwits insist on these twisted, perverted statements that have no basis in logic or fact but somehow make your pathetic program approach a level of mediocrity at best? You're an irrelevant, meaningless program.

How do you know? I looked at the schedules going back to 2011. Pitt has had 7 home night games on Sat evenings. None of those have seen to Steelers play at Heinz the next day at 1pm.

Interesting. Isn't it?

Because first of all, if there was such a rule after 16 years we would have heard about it. The fact that the only time it ever gets mentioned is by uninformed message board posters ought to tell you something. And secondly, Pitt has played night games before when the Stillers played at 1:00 the following day. The history here goes back a little further than 2011.

I don't feel like looking back the full 15 years. Feel free. I stopped at 2011 because that seems to be a sufficient amount of time. For some reason, Pitt doesn't play at night when the Steelers play the next day at 1pm. Can you guess why that is? The Steelers play over half of their home games at 1pm.

3 of the 8 home games this season are at 1pm on Sunday.
5 of the 8 home games last season were 1pm on Sunday.
4 of the 8 home games in 2014 were at 1pm on Sunday.
5 of the 8 homes game in 2013 were at 1pm on Sunday.
5 of the 8 home games in 2012 were at 1pm on Sunday.
5 of the 8 home games in 2011 were at 1pm on Sunday.

Yet, none of these games going back to 2011 occurred when Pitt played the night before. Coincidence? Maybe. However, it seems more likely that Pitt simple is not allowed, or more realistically the Steelers frown on it because it takes a larger effort to get the stadium ready.

Steelers play a home game at 1pm? No night game possibility for Pitt. The Pirates play on Saturday evening? No night game for Pitt. That's just how it is. When it does happen (I recall a late ND game and an early Steelers game) it is rare and probably reserved for ND because that Rooneys like them. Or the game will start at an odd time like 6pm. There may not be a rule, but it does seem to be taking place.

Actually what it seems like is that you have reached your conclusion and you couldn't care less what the actual facts are. There is absolutely nothing to prevent Pitt from playing at night when the Stillers play the next day at 1:00. Nothing. The proof is that it has happened before. You are desperately searching for an answer to a question that doesn't exist.

Pitt won this year, congrats. Looking forward to the rematch in State College next year...
