There is no way the Pirates are going to get this game in today or tomorrow.
Mr. Nutting, do everyone a favor and cancel it now.
Lots can open at normal times and traffic will be less of a cluster.

This is one tailgate I'll be happy to be in the garage instead of a surface lot!

If he might possibly lose even a dime, he ain't canceling anything.

And I'm not condemning him for that either. He's a smart business person. If his clientele buys what he's peddling, he's smart to peddle that and not a smidgen more.

I hope it gets pushed back a few hours just to make everyone hate Nutting and the Pirates and the ridiculousness of our stadium situation more

They'll all hate Pitt, or condemn us anyway. Most Pitt non-supporters think we're leeches and interlopers down there. Pitt shouldnt be in the STEELERS stadium. Heck, many on this board say that, though for other reasons. And PSU fans think all their games should be at home.

I think the batch of rain is supposed to end before noon so they probably don't cancel, especially given that tomorrow looks like a certain washout.

Is that a umpire crew call or MLB call?

Actually before the game starts the decision is entirely in the hands of the home team, so while it is entirely unlikely that Nutting would be involved in the decision it is possible that he could order that they attempt to start the game on time. However, once the first pitch of the game has been thrown the decision is entirely in the hands of the umpires, and more specifically the crew chief. The home team has no say in it at all after the game begins.

So theoretically Nutting could order them to push the start time back to, say, 8:00 and that's what they would do. But if they tried to start then and the umpires think that the field is unplayable then it will be a very, very short game.
