He's one of the best coaches ever? He's not trying to make eagle scout.

The media slurps him because he slurps the media. Pitino is probably the best PR guy/head coach in college basketball history. Kelvin Sampson is a grump to the media so the narrative with him is always “great coach, but troubled past”

He may get there. What he did at WVU this season with a team of rec players is maybe the best one-year coaching job of all time.

If you go across the NBA and NCAA, I think Larry Brown is up there with Pitino as all time great talent developers. His guys always improve. It's not just recruiting though he's great at that too.

No doubt, Pitino, Sampson, and Izzo are 3 of the best. Add Beard to the list. Those guys can win wherever they go. Pitino has been to 5 schools and within 3 years wins 25 games. Amazing.
