His biggest problem is he lives in a bubble of non reality. He didnt do anything wrong....its the system and the people around him that are evil

"I want to take a smaller school, like a Providence, like an Iona, a small school and try to make it big," said Pitino, who made his first Final Four as Providence's coach in 1987. "But I wanted no part of any of that other, I had enough of that. It turned me off, to be quite honest with you, in a lot of different areas. I now don't have to look over my shoulder and see who I'm going to trust, who I'm not going to trust."

On a scale of 1 to 10 of being dirty with Will Wade being a 10, Pitino is about a 6. Plenty of guys dirtier than him.

really? providing hookers for kids is "higher ground" than a 10k bag of cash?

you have a really strange moral compass to go with your woody for all things petino

I truly believe that Pitino had no idea he had an assistant providing hookers. I think he was buying players like everyone else.

i litetally was waiting and anticipating this reaponse from you.. holy cow.

his history of bag men, shadyness (everywhere he has been) extra marital affairs.....and you conclude a hyper control freak who wrote a book about his involvement in every "detail" is what makes him successful... magically misses this detail?

Yes. I dont think the assistant went to Pitino and said "hey, Im getting the kids strippers Saturday" and he said "go for it." I think Pitino is dirty but I do think that there are many assistants who go rogue to advance their career.

so you never think he got wind of it in the 3 years of it happening and could have stopped it?

go look up plausible deniability

Just as likely assistant went to Pitino and said, "Hey I'm getting the kids strippers Saturday"
Pitino: "Here's a list of the best ones, and also some of the better hookers, mention my name and you'll get a discount!"

So things are going pretty well but he still finds the need to bring up the past and identify as some kind of a victim when he clearly wasn't? Sounds a lot like my ex.

Pitino - and others like him - are not just willing to do absolutely anything they feel is necessary to get what they want, they are also willing to continually lie about it. Also to deny any personal wrongdoing or accept any responsibility or blame.

They also virtually always use buffers. Sure, Rick‘s name wouldn’t be DIRECTLY connected to his misdeeds. That’s what he pays the stooges for: to try to keep himself insulated.

Had they not fallen a point short against Creighton yesterday I’m sure Joe Pasternack would’ve been a big name this morning. He literally was one of the aforementioned stooges for Sean Miller, which no one seems to mention anymore since he’s had so much success at UCSB.

SMF would’ve been drooling all over Pasternack today had they finished off that game yesterday as he learned his trade at the foot of the master Sean Miller himself.

It’s a “risk vs reward” scenario for some of the assistants at the feet of of those guys. Andre McGee and more recently Book Richardson were a couple who took the fall for the guys they were paid to cover for.

Others have managed to make it through and get opportunities to be HC’s themselves. And they have had firsthand opportunities to have learned all the tricks of the trade from “their masters”. Whether they are able to take advantage and make themselves into successful HC’s and ultimately reach the “big time” depends on a lot of variables.

Normally I would respond to something like this by saying that you can't really be that gullible. But given who made the post, yeah, you probably are that gullible.

It also may be deluding himself just like with Sean Miller because he sees either of them as a potential hire for Pitt. The rest of us know neither will ever happen.

Yea I like Pasternack

This is an interesting discussion.

I also tend to think its naive to think Pitino had "no idea." However, the NCAA did say in their report that Pitino failed to monitor his assistants, and seemed like he intentionally didn't want to know what they were doing.

In Pitino's world,, I think making sure he has plausible deniability is one of the details. That said, I would find it hard ro believe he didn't have at least some idea.

I'm not sure why this is even controversial. I think for a program as dirty as Louisville was, they would absolutely keep each other in the dark. You put those guys on the staff knowing that stuff goes on, and there's no reason to ever ask what it is.

Pitino has won everywhere he has been. Sure he’s dirty, but so was John Wooden and everyone loves him.

I liken the press not reporting what they obviously knew about Wooden to them not reporting on Babe Ruth’s gluttony and penchant for banging anything that moved. Times certainly have changed.

They still today largely protect college programs. Pitino was the guy tagged to "clean up" Kentucky after Eddie Sutton. 😆

I think one of the hookers released a book to let the cat out of the bag at Louisville.

And FWIW, I get Pitino's bitterness.

Louisville has been a willing participant in the cess pool of college basketball recruiting forever. He won big and kept plausible deniability and they parted ways by letting him take the fall, without forking over a single dime of a $40 million buyout after 17 years of winning.

They buckled out of fear of the NCAA. If they were outraged by his behavior, they would have fired his ass when he gave the equipment manager's wife a 15 second nut bath in a booth at Porcini's and later paid for an abortion.

Hello Rick, This is Billy Bob Lone Star. I’m the head of the University of Texas millionaire booster club. We are buying out our hoops coach. He let us down again getting beat by an inferior team. We are prepared to offer you 10 million per year for 6 years if you want to leave “Heaven” for Austin Texas. You wife is going to love it down here. All of your New York friends are moving here anyways because of the super high taxes you chumps pay. Think about it........I’ll give you 5 minutes. Did I mention the $10,000,000 per year for 6 years. Also we never get caught cheating so you don’t have to worry about your new found honesty and life calling to help young men.

Since we are on the subject of Sanctimonious Ricky ...... isn’t that what they used to call Paterno? Sanctimonious Joe ? Anyways consider this

Pitino against Coach K. They each get 8 regular college players that are equal in a talent and size at all positions including back ups. They get a week to prepare and they play a neutral site location with fans. Who do you pick to win. I would go with Pitino.
