Good enough for Maryland. But the Pitt Panther Diocese is too holy. I mean we have diehard Pitt fans on this board who dont want Pitino to win a shit-ton of games here because he paid a player, cheated on his wife, and an assistant hired prostitues. That's all meaningless stuff. He wins.

Maryland seems to be on board with the idea. Gary Williams has openly advocated for a Pitino hire.

Maryland alums aren't afraid their degrees will be revoked and they will be fired from their jobs because their school hired a HOF coach who cheated on his wife and paid some players?

It's a little more than that.

The guy was banging his equipment manager's wife and then paid her to have an abortion.

People that make the hiring decisions at a lot of these schools may simply not want a guy like that in their work place.

And yet he is good enough for Maryland but not Pitt, a program in a DESPERATE situation literally drawing fewer than 1000 per game.

Perhaps they think that is preferable to hiring Pitino. It's not like if they don't hire Pitino, that means they will automatically continue to suck.

So did Joe Paterno - won, that is.

Maryland would pretty much sell their sole to the devil, so they are definitely in.

Its sports. Who cares about "selling their soul to the devil?" All that matters is winning. We aren't talking about a coach who has committed serious crimes here. In the grand scheme of life, what he did is extremely minor. And 1 of them (paying the Bowen kid) is legal now.

SMF, if Maryland wants him, why are you bringing it up? It’s a top 10 job. As I told you, he’s not coming to Pitt because it’s Pitt. Not for any other reason

Why do you think it's a top 10 job? I don't see it.

UK, UNC, Duke,, UCLA, KU... I think those are probably the best 5 jobs in college hoops. After that, in college hoops, it's more about the coach than it is the program.

Prince Georges County has arguably the best HS talent in the nation. Showtime did a documentary on it.

Proximity to DC makes a lot of kids grow up wanting to play there. It’s a top market. They’ll pay whatever for Pitino. They’ll give you every resource in the world and you have Underarmour’s full backing. Plus they have a rich history.

Didn't their Athletic Department have some ungodly amount of debt a few years back? How did they get in such a mess back then? I think that was right about the time they made the move to the Big Ten.
