First five matches were good and fun to watch save Mikey R getting decked. He's just so technically loose and has never seemed to improve. He constantly tries to hit the big move even when it's not there and gets in trouble for it. Last five matches were snoozers. Really like Rahmani. Has some Mikey flair in him, but seems to keep in a little better in control. Anyone know how Bonacorsi's been doing in HS?
Dresser is getting paid $300,000 by Iowa State ..... it will likely be in top 3 of wrestling coaches salary ...... I read that a significant part of the salary will come from donations from Iowa State fans.
He's from Iowa and went to Iowa. He came to VT with Brands and has done a great job there.
I suspect VT will go after Terry Brands now. Not having an AD in place could hurt us here.

He didn't come to VT with Brands.
He started out in Grundy, headed to Christiansburg, than took the VT job. He's been in Virginia quite sometime. Christiansburg is just a few miles down the road from VT. When Brands came in, he brought in some solid wrestlers, but when he left, he took a bunch with him. Dresser took the VT job and brought in some locals, but when the success kicked in, he was able to recruit nationally.
If you were a solid middle school wrestler and lived outside of Christiansburg, your parents moved just to get you the opportunity to wrestle for Dresser's team at CHS. He was way too qualified to be a HS coach, and I believe many thought he was waiting around just long enough to land the VT job, which eventually he did, and the rest is history.
My wife knew Dresser and one of his assistant coaches pretty well. They worked in the same school system.
VT will not be going after Terry Brands. There is bad blood between the Brands and VT because of Tom Brands leaving VT. Tom has refused to wrestle VT in this years Narional Duals.
If VT didn't think Brands would leave if the Iowa job opened up, they were nuts. If there is bad blood it likely is because when he left he got 3 or 4 of the freshmen he had recruited to go with him.
You are correct about that. It was in Tom's contract that he would leave for Iowa. Those recruits came to Vt because of Brands. 2 of them were from Iowa. They did not consider staying once Brands left. The parents of these recruits were told by the VT AD that if Brands left they would be able to leave with him. The AD reneged on that promise and would not release these recruits so they all lost a year of eligibility. That is what caused the bad blood. The parents sued VT but it was too late to change things.
