Pitt at ‘Ville Gamethread

I honestly think we are such a gigantic laughing stock that pretty much every opponent comes in taking us lightly,
The problem with that theory is that when such a thing occurs there should be big blow-outs mixed in, but so far Pitt has been able to avoid such a thing.

Possibly, there’s really no way to tell if he would’ve been hot like tonight or lacked confidence like the games he was cold. All confidence
When was the last time you saw him play? Did Champ improve one season to the next? This confidence narrative some are pushing can be a matter of maturity on the court - experience and playing with each other.

I literally watched him last night. The confidence narrative was proven to be utter bullshit. You don’t get to the ACC (and have your best game in the OOC) without having confidence.

the whole thing was another Vader BS excuse for me being right on how many points he’d average at Pitt. He’s a streaky shooter, nothing more. Has nothing to do with confidence or sample sizes.

He would’ve been the difference in all of those losses! We would be undefeated with ThreeThiel!
You think his first half didn’t help keep this a “final possession game”? You must have expected Pitt to waltz out of Yum-Yum with a win without Horton. This was on the road at a 4-0 team. As Mr Insider told this internet audience someone has to score. Well then who gets the points during Horton’s hot streak? Collier? Jeffress? Femi? Eze? Hugley from his seat next to Capel? Look, this is a decent competitive team and still missing a starting guard. Enjoy it and let the chips fall at season’s end.

The kid and Coach Capel publicly said it was a major confidence issue last year. Your beef should be with them, not me.

Have to agree with you
You two guys know offhand who said Pitt wins this game with Horton in the lineup? Pitt was a dozen point dawg on the road. Think you’re confusing the posts that suggested Horton’s shooting would have made a difference in Pitt’s previous one possession games. You simply cannot deny his shooting helped keep this a close game. I’m not pretending to know what Mack’s thinking was in the second half, but could there quite possibly have been an adjustment to #12? If not the coach then perhaps a player on the court? #12’s personal issue is on him along with his conditioning. But you can’t see what a 3 point threat does to keep teams in games when other scoring options are on the bench? Goodness.

I don’t know if you’re referring to me in this post, but of course having 3 point shooters help. And it probably hurt just as much on defense considering he gave us nothing offensively in the second half. That’s the problem with him.

Hortons issue is that he’s a below average player in a high level league who can’t use his left hand and can’t defend, he’s a streaky shooter and that’s it, everything doesn’t need to be pampered
