Pitt baseball team thoughts

Just wanted to say that I came away very impressed with Pitt's baseball team after their weekend series with Clemson. I can tell you that almost every person I've talked with about the series though the same thing. Extremely competitive and they can absolutely hit. That team is full of some big strong dudes. The pitching is was ok. Your Saturday starter has a big league arm for certain. Defensively, Pitt played better than their stats indicated. The HC must be a Pirates fan because he's shifting the D at a Clint Hurdle pace. They have started ACC play with about as difficult as schedule as possible and are a respectable 5-7. Not bad at all.

I know Pitt baseball is probably way down the list of sporting events to attend in Pittsburgh this time of year with the Bucs season starting up and with the Pens but if you get a chance and some nice weather I would certainly go watch them play.

Appreciate your thoughts on Pitt's baseball team. Tough for Pitt to compete for baseball recruits with the warm-weather teams.

Go Pitt.

Thanks, you are absolutely correct. 3 of our first 4 ACC baseball series have been against the #4, #6, and #8 RPI teams in the country- and 2 of those series on the road-we won 3 games (1 in each series), guess you can't ask much more than this against such tough competition.

Maybe the day will come soon when we win 2 of 3 instead of losing 2 of 3 in such series. Best of luck to the Tigers the rest of the year.

I watched the game Sunday online. We lost 4 to 3, but it was a good game. I also went to the Game against Kent last week. Pitt killed them. Hit 3 HRs. Friday's game against Georgia Tech is on ESPN3.

Thanks for the feedback. I have rudimentary question. Is there a ACC baseball tournament and if there is do think the ACC baseball tournament will ever be held at PNC Park ?

Man I hope so! They have talked about having it in Boston at Fenway. The tourney has been held in several places but as of late it's been in Durham, NC...home of the Bulls. PNC would be awesome!

Thanks! I think pitching is holding Pitt back a bit. The Saturday starter is probably your Friday guy if he's not coming off an injury. The rest of the staff is ok...but a second big time starter is lacking. One thing is for certain. Pitt can swing the stick. Very aggressive at the plate and you have some damn giants on your team. Your catcher could be a TE for Narduzzi based on his build. LeBlanc is very good. I think both are batting over .400.

It's great to see. Very impressive team. I heard it all day on the radio. Northeast teams historically are at a disadvantage when it comes to college baseball so to field good teams is difficult. I believe Pitt has a brand new field so hopefully they are expecting good things.

Lastly, just want to say best of luck with the new BBall coach. I'm sure this is a topic of some contention. I have a mountain of respect for Jamie Dixon as does our current HC. One of the real good guys in coaching and probably doesn't get the respect he's earned. Stallings is a...curious selection. I hope he's able to keep that program going. Many moons ago I went to a Pitt/ UMass game at Fitzgerald Fieldhouse and the atmosphere was incredible. That was during the Ralph Willard era I believe. I think UMass was #1. Would hate to see that level of play return to Pitt. What's been created with the Zoo and the Pete is something college basketball needs.

Wish you all the best and hope to see you in Clemson in the fall. Come by our tailgate and grab an adult beverage or three!
