I've been pondering that today. Would Heather interview him? Would she hire him? Would the higher ups okay it? Would Sean Miller want to come here?

What do you guys think?

I think Sean would have been open to it but something tells me Heather would have not wanted him. I say NO.

I read something today that Bruce Pearl’s recent minimal punishment issue spurred Xavier on to hire him. Essentially nobody is expecting any trouble to follow Miller and whatever it is would be minimal. So if Heather’s due diligence had that same info then yes she would have offered.

Gallagher never would have allowed it to happen.

It sort of sucks how clean the university has always wanted to been. As if the school has always feared athletics would give the school a bad name.

Not true. BballinsiderfromPitt said he's getting a show cause. Hint: he isn't.

I voted no on this though because Miller would have chosen Xavier over Pitt.

Pitt's due diligence came to the conclusion that he was going to invade Ukraine.

He is getting suspended for the billionth time. You’re seriously rainman. Congrats on sweaty Sean going to Xavier. This ain’t the A10. He doesn’t have Book. Total disaster hire for Xavier. Should’ve kept Steele for this.

Go bother their board about May Madness. Oh yeah, how’s the greatest conference ever SEC doing? 🤣

And to answer Op: no, Sean would’ve never been head coach at Pitt. His family thinks they’re too good for Pitt and wouldn’t have ever let him coach here

Sure, he may get a 10 game suspension, maybe, maybe. But probably not and who cares. Anything he gets will be completely minor.

Still waiting on your Miller vs Heather's choice. Why won't you answer? Shouldn't the worst coach in college basketball tank Xavier and turn them into DePaul?

Your hyperbole knows no limits. He’s not the worst coach in college basketball. But he’s also not good. No inherent advantages at Xavier anymore, no cheating with Book, NYC shut off completely, bad choice for Xavier. Mack part 2 would’ve been the better move.

Heather May not get a choice. She’s skating on thin ice

After 1989 the Pitt administration didn't want to be known as a jock school. And in came Dennis O'Conner and Hackett.
I thought it started way back in 1938 with Chancellor Bowman hating football and cut funding to spite Sutherland.

And those hoop hires after 1950 with coaches who hated to recruit and thought an hour of prayer was better than an hour of practice per my Hail to Pitt book from 1982.

Well I was referring to the more modern ages but good points. That's history alot aren't aware of.

Cannot wait until next year when we hire Sean out from under Xavier after he gets a three game suspension for his UA shenanigans. This board will be so happy.

Ok, but he's one of the worst coaches in college basketball, right?

I agree losing Book hurts but the board vastly underestimates his actual coaching. He will be in 4 of the 5 next NCAA Tournaments. You can mark that one down.

And hopefully, you're right about Heather. But you're rarely right. I think she jets the next chance she gets to avoid the Capel fallout. And you know who I'll be pulling for although we would never: Tom Jurich

he's going to be suspended but not as much as warranted. Five games compared to 5 yrs. The reason why I think it will be minimal is X's AD is on the NCAA infractions committee and he knows exactly what is going on.

Barely a wrist slap as I've said for 5 years. Maybe I should be Pitt's GC

She’s not gonna get a better job than Pitt. She didn’t hire the football coach and blew the basketball hire. As much as I hate to agree with you, big ten schools or anyone who could hire her away don’t care about Olympic sports. Only odd Pitt fans do.

That's why most of them only have the bare minimum to meet the NCAA requirements. 🤪

I mean seriously, if someone like Penn State didn't care about Olympic sports why would they have 26 of them? If Ohio State didn't care about Olympic sports why would they have 33 of them?

It's odd to me that people can't seem to understand that just because they don't care about something that that doesn't mean that the people who run the Universities don't care about them too.

I don’t particularly care what Heather or Gallagher care about. It’s fun to root for those sports when they make it deep but other than that unless you have a kid or friend playing in them who cares.

Penn State is what it is because of football. Not because they have a great wrestling team. St Peter’s will grow because of this basketball run. Whoever heard of Florida Gulf Coast before Enfield? The other sports aren’t boosting attendance or donations.

Are you keeping an AD if she has Olympic sports humming, loses Narduzzi and messes up another hoops hire? No.

See that's the thing. YOU might not care about what Gallagher cares about. But I guarantee you that Lyke, and any other person that Pitt brings in as an AD, absolutely does care.

As far as the rest of it, you are on the SMF path. Believe it or not, there is some middle ground between football and basketball are the only thing that matters and everything else is irrelevant and Olympic sports are just as important as football and basketball. Approximately 100% of all athletic departments run that way, and yet some fans just can't wrap their head around it.

If you read throughout Pitt's history, it has been on again, off again, a real love/hate with athletic success. Fortunately now, the money is too much to deny how important this is.
