Pitt BB Apathy

I have it. Haven't been on the BB board for a month. Haven't gone to or watched any games in over a month. All I see are alerts on my phone regarding scores. Barely care about those.

Never thought I would get here. The first Pitt season tickets I ever bought after graduating were Pitt BB season tickets in 1995. Now, I can't stand to see what the program has become.

My only interest now is when will fire this joke of a staff. Heather, you're on the clock for some action.

Yeah I’m with you. I sometimes just want them to lose games so capel gets fired faster. But I can’t quite root against them…especially the poor players who committed to this joker.

Yea, I thought I'd root against this team so he gets fired faster but I cant. When the ball tips off, I'm rooting for "my team." Though, I no longer feel that "game pressure" when watching and 1 second after the game is over, I'm no longer upset about the loss because I don't care that much. Now, when we were 19-4 and lost a game, I was sick for a day and probably complained a ton on here because those games meant a lot to me.

Lets say Capel took over the team last March. Johnson, Toney, Coulibaly, Drumgoole transfer and Champagnie goes pro. OK, new coach, this is to be expected. We return Femi, Horton, Sibande, Hugley, Jeffress, Amadusun and go get some ho-hum transfers and a lesser-rated HS player. Still ok, first year, didnt have a full recruiting cycle. But, the glaring red flag right now is that even though this is Year 1, we have no recruits signed and it doesn't appear we are even recruiting anybody. The only way to build this program is to actually get recruits and the fact that we've only signed 1 HS player in 2 classes is extremely worrisome.

With you. Pitt basketball was the highlight of winter and early spring....now, after the bowl games I'm cancelling my Your Tube TV subscription. You Tube TV is great for watching college football, basketball, and Olympic sports. If we were winning, I'd keep it despite expense.

Honestly, that's the straw that broke the camel's back for me. Year 4 has become a year 1 and there's no hope of moving this forward. They struggle to sign warm bodies, and anyone with options will be gone through the portal.

I was happy with the Capel hire and have been pretty supportive of him. However, you can't hit rock bottom in year 4. It's over, and every day he remains is a wasted day. You could replace the staff with 4 guys from this board and not be any worse.

It's depressing. I sort of enjoyed the first three years of Capel to the extent each year was slightly better than before in win %. Though more the first two years than the drudgery of the COVID year. I'd see Capel at Giant Eagle and tell him good job, a likable guy.

So this year we got season tickets because my kids might be interested and more so that my dad and I go can (he's 81, been a Pitt fan since 1960 or so when he first moved here in the Army, but especially since 1980.) And I have almost no interest now. We'll go to the game, eat pretzels, and watch a flat out bad team. The little hope is gone.
