I was thinking PSU may only need a split in their 2 game season. They have 10 games vs girls teams. If they go 1-1 and dont even make the B10CG due to tiebreakers, they could get in at 11-1.
I’d be just fine if Penn State, WVU, Notre Dame, or whoever else made the playoffs in that case… sign me up for us beating FSU!
Typically, I'd say you know it's coming. But this Pitt team is too awful that I don't see it happening. At least not with Jurkovec.
There's probably a universe where Penn State getting to a national championship level helps Pitt's recruiting because they start recruiting more nationally and aren't interested in some of the PA/NJ players they're currently getting.

I hate FSU enough to make this trade off..... I don't hate ISIS after they did 250 beheadings yesterday enough to make that tradeoff...Kids, what are ya gonna do. Just don't have the appropriate amount of hate anymore..
The 2007 Pitt FB team would curb stomp this years team.
Shady would go off. Stephens-Howling, Turner, McKillop, Romeus, Thatcher. That team had a least a few really nice players.

The 2007 team was a team that I could confidently say was more talented than its record, certainly better than the 4-7 we were entering the final matchup with WVU. Our current team looks every bit deserving of its 1-4 record. My only hope is that this year will somehow turn out like Chryst's first year where I witnessed the absolute worst Pitt performance I'd ever seen, the YSU loss, but then showed improvement ... we should have beaten national championship game bound ND that year.
Yes. That year's team was much better. They really just didnt have a QB. Had a lot of other positions covered. This team only has a few ACC level players
We really don’t know that, do we? First of all we don’t know how this team will progress, if at all. Secondly I know of 7 teams that 07 team didn’t curb stomp.
It takes be 5 minutes to walk from my house to the bar, but it takes me 25 minutes to walk from the bar to my house.
The difference is staggering.
If losing to FSU hurts PSU's CFP chances, Im rooting for FSU. Problem is that its too early to really know how much of an impact it'll have. But if we are 1-7 going into that game, beating FSU does little for us. I'd rather lose and hurt PSU
Sorry SMF, but I think this is the wrong mindset to have. I’m not concerned with how Penn State fares, and I certainly wouldn’t root for us to lose so that they’d be negatively impacted. I’m going with the opportunity to upset a top five all day, especially at home.
Besides, we don’t play them anymore and want nothing to do with us. I’m fine with reciprocating.
There is also the Cignetti factor in play. If we win, maybe Cignetti stays. I have never rooted against Pitt but in this particular game, hurting PSU and helping Cignetti's chances of being ousted is just that perfect storm you need to root against your own team.

I hope we beat FSU by 100. I would rather cut off my balls than hope for a Pitt loss because it could possibly... in a round about manner.... help PSU get into the playoff.
