I don’t know if his buyout is $7 Million or $21 Million. I don’t know over how many years it is payable. All I know is that Pitt is going to have to pay it. Now.

We need to make it financially unprofitable for Pitt not to pay it. Today, I sent an email to the AD to introduce myself and I advised him as follows: If Pitt does not terminate Capel within 10 days after the season ends, my annual contribution to the AD in 2025 will be $0. That will be a $1500 loss. It will continue to be $0 as long as Capel is retained. Over three years that is $4500.

A pittance compared to $7 Million, right? Not if 1,600 other donors do the same. That is $7.2 Million lost in three years.

We might not have a mega donor willing to pay Capel’s buyout. But, I’m hoping we have at least 1,600 other donors willing to do what I am doing.

I am not cutting out Pitt completely. I give 50% of my annual donation to the College of Arts and Sciences. But, the AD will get nothing. The last 3 years, I have earmarked part of that donation to Volleyball. I hate to end that. But, I will.

I urge other donors to join me.
