Pitt Day of Giving is today. Celebrating Pitt's 238th birthday (a few days early).

I'm not sure there was ever a time when Pitt needed more in light of the drastic federal funding cuts.

Gotta give Pitt Baseball credit. They sent out an email blast saying donations at certain levels would secure certain perks, which makes me wonder why other programs aren't taking similar action.

$100 – Pitt Baseball Drawstring Bag
$1,000 – Team Autographed Bat
$2,500 – Team Autographed Game Helmet
$10,000 – First Pitch & Jersey Presentation

Anyone saying they don’t ever get links or outreach from Pitt to donate, here is a good opportunity. And you’ll be on the list going forward.

I’ve already received a phone call, a few emails and seen blasts all over social media.
Same...calls, texts, emails from multiple groups.

I'm sort of shocked how few people donate to their specific home departments in the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences. I would think people would be inclined to specifically support their old home academic departments where they have closer ties to faculty and staff. https://pittdayofgiving.com/pages/dietrich-school-of-arts-and-sciences-pdog

dear lord folks, these universities are hemmorhaging money, endowments in the billions, endless construction of facility upgrades, all while they rape undergrads with tuition. add in the tax money they get from states and it's absurd.

Do NOT donate to this endless racket. spend your hard earned money on your family, on your passions, on worthwhile causes. giving money to entities that have have hundreds of million dollar budgets spent on nothing but waste is a joke..

be better folks.

Already donated for both me and you. You are welcome.

money well spent. there is a sucker born every day..

seriously, give some to the pitt hoops team so capel can pay for a post player so i dont have to watch this abortion of a team anymore..
It is money well given. Better than spending money for "inside" information about the entity you refuse to support. You are welcome.

LOL. I will keep giving, because I value the university and many of its missions, including athletics. You do not. Even though you keep paying to post on a message board devoted to discussing it. That hypocrisy and absolute lack of self-awareness is hilarious.

if you truly loved the university, you'd give twice as much as you do now. prove me wrong, give double now what you are giving.

I looked at the various donation amounts for sports teams

Right before tip off, football had raised 21K ish

Compare that to Baseball, which had 16K

There is something dramatically off here.....and it should concern every die hard Pitt football fan.

Diehard football fans are buying season tickets and putting money into NIL.

Claiming to be someone that derives enjoyment from the success of an institution while actually paying to publicly discourage others from contributing to that success: you truly are one of the worlds biggest clowns.

That is likely true. In my personal case, financial support for football and men's and women's basketball come at other times during the year, such as during renewals, as does my NIL support, or support of other larger bucket funds.

For the day of giving, I typically use it as an opportunity and reminder to support some targeted championship funds for other sports for which I do not have season tickets, like wrestling, and other targeted areas of the university, such as my original home academic departments, and things like the nationality rooms or specific student organizations.

Probably many others use the day of giving similarly.

I usually donate towards baseball, softball, track and swimming championship funds on the day of giving.
