Game one of the Pitt - Duke season ending series is currently 0-0 in the bottom of the 7th. TJ Zeuch has allowed 6 hits in his 7 innings. The Duke starter has allowed 2 hits so far.

And as I am just about to hit the "Create Thread" button Nick Yarnell hits a home run and Pitt takes a 1-0 lead.

A walk, two strike outs, and then two two out singles gets the run across for Duke.

Zeuch has 12 strikeouts through 9.

Son of a b$&&@!!!! Thought we were going to close it out.

I actually thought that we did. The game tracker didn't put the run up on the "scoreboard" right away and then I saw the third out and thought the game was over. It was only when I looked at the stats to see Zeuch's line that I saw they had him for 1 earned run. Then they updated the "scoreboard" to show it was 1-1.

So yeah, son of a b$&&@!!!!

LeBlanc with a lead off double and now as Yarnell walks he has disappeared from the GameTracker. Out stealing? Who knows?

Chentouf walks. I can't believe that Duke didn't walk him intentionally to set up the double play and give them a force at home, but he ends up walking anyway.

Sherman up.

Duke gets a lead off single and then flies into a double play, 9 unassisted. So I guess a fly ball to shallow right that the runner thinks is going to drop in and then when the right fielder catches it he just runs the rest of the way to first base to get the second out.

There is some weird stuff going on in this game.

Fitting end to Zeuch's Pitt career. 0 runs over 8 innings, but needed a complete game shutout to get the W.

Pitt won only 1 of Zeuch's last 4 starts.

With Zeuch leaving early and likely LeBlanc, it is frightening to think how bad this team could be next year.

Is LeBlanc draft eligible? He is only a sophomore and he hasn't redshirted, but he also did not play baseball in high school, only with a travel team. So is he eligible because it has been three years since he was drafted last or is he not eligible because he has only been at a D1 college for two years?

The two (good) seniors, Kowalczyk and Sherman, are both obviously gone. And Yarnell is draft eligible. If they don't have a really good recruiting class coming in it could get really ugly even if LeBlanc comes back.

The Notre Dame announcers said he is draft eligible. That's the only reason I know. I don't even know if its true but they probably had good reason to say that. I am sure it has something to do with the reasons you mentioned. I dont know all the draft rules especially regarding Canadiens.....but if he is draft eligible, its hard to imagine him being drafted any higher next season so he should leave. Its difficult to improve on a .400 batting average in the ACC. Plus, I would guess that he would be considered an attractive "raw talent" prospect considering he hasnt played a lot of high end competitive baseball being from Canada. So, he's probably gone.

I thought Yarnall was a senior. As a junior, he'll be drafted but I dont know if it will be high enough to leave. If it is, this could be a 3 or 4 win team in the ACC next year.
