Phil Steele publishes a returning experience chart every year that factors heavily into his rankings. When reading Phil Steele's breakdown of Pitt this coming year, he noted Pitt was #79 (fairly average; https://philsteele.com/2019/07/03/2019-experience-chart-pg-29-of-2019-college-magazine/). The biggest thing that hurts the ranking is our lack of career starts for our OL.
However, I found his older version of the experience chart which shows a class breakdown of the 2 deep which is very interesting for Pitt (#22; https://philsteele.com/2019/07/01/2019-two-deep-class-breakdown/). What's interesting here is that we have a solid number of upperclassmen starters (7 seniors and 12 juniors) with 11 sophomores on the 2-deep (one of the highest).
I think that's a really good sign for next year as those juniors and sophomores become seniors and juniors we should have a ton of experience coming back. I think this is also a good sign of overall roster building and development.
