More tweaking on Offense and looks like a design for striking early and often? May be part of Defensive Stragedy as well. Leave it to others to speculate, contemplate, and if it will work better in 2017 for all 3 Units???? After reading the Article still looks like a Total Work in Progress and believe it is due to the QB. But just a guess?
Excerpt:

Without record-breaking, All-ACC running back James Conner, Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi hinted Wednesday the Panthers could become more of a throwing team this season. “You have to do what's best for your offense and put the ball into people's hands that need to get it,” Narduzzi said during an ACC coaches conference call. “(Wide receiver) Jester Weah (24.2 yards per reception last season) has shown that he can be a top wideout in the country.(A Former Hunch & Others Don't Agree?) !)We've got to find a way to drop back, throw it more and get them the ball down the field. “We don't have James Conner in the backfield, so maybe you end up being more of a throwing team. I don't know. But I think you blend your offense into what you have. “What we did a year ago worked, but we have other things that are going to work, too.” Change can be good, he said................. “We expect (the team) to be maybe better in some situations and maybe not as good at others.”
New Tight End.............
Crowded QB Room...............
More Roster Change?..................

I remember that article. After re reading it, I noticed that we have a Rutgers transfer at TE. Has he arrived?...and if so, did he play in spring ball (my guess is he did not).

As far as the rest, not much that we don't already know...we have depth at QB, but very little experience. IMO the new OC is very important. Also can the new RB's make a contribution?...if so , that will help with the loss of Connor.

Good Post, I don't know about the TE, sure Lair's Podcast Peak's On Pitt may tell you, but this is where it pays to be on the Premium Board for less Ten Bucks a Month.

I think you hit on a good point, Narduzzi, Watson and Conklin all are in Transitions and just don't know right now, and looking for some answers from the New Transfers now and until Recruits come in August? Paris Ford, AJ Davis and some others Tight Ends, but are talking secretive on what they still don't know, or using stealth spouts as ways of saying we need to know more but later.

Any slow starts by the QBs against Penn State, Oklahoma State, and Georgia Tech could kill the season if they go 1-3, then face UNC, VT, and MIAMI at the end, all them will be better by then with 10, 11, 12 games under their belts too, the Schedule will not allow much room for time to decide.

The Defense has to be way better to beat 3 Top 25 Offensive Teams in PSU, OKST & GT too. This is with a New DL playing together for the first time, New Linebackers as Starters and still a Backfield that needs to learn play better and together. This may take time and if injuries occurs Depth will be a bigger problem?

While the Offense has to keep producing High Scoring but now Lack Dependable Experience at QB without Peterman, TE without Orndoff, RB without Conner, and OLs without OG Dorian and OT Big Biz?

So, the article is good because it shows Pitt Pat & Staff have to figure it all out and clearly a Work in Progress. The Upside, I was worried whether Coach Pat 7 staff could chnage attitudes and win in 2015 his first year, worried a tad more in 2016 as OC Canada took over, and by the early games was surprised how good the coaching was with far less recruits, players, and experience. Coach Pat & Staff know the problems facing him in 2017 and I am confident he will coach them up again and with more depth.

The problem overall is I don't know how Great Penn State, Oklahoma State, Georgia Tech, early on since they have much experience coming back. Add in later how Pitt must face UNC, VT, and Miami will actually be better in 2017 and that is the unknown even if Pitt is improved too.

Once again, another challenge for Coach Pat & Staff and in his only 3rd year and this will be fun to watch how he figures it out?
