I understand the disappointments of losing to OKSU & UNC but I really like what I see from this Pitt Team. I just listen to Rival's Chris Peak and he made great points how the young Pitt Recruits and Players are responding and are becoming a great Foundation for the Future.
I have not witness such Coaching that is focused on making the Players and Teams better every game. This is only Coach Pat & Staff 19th Game but they are doing terrific on Offense and Special Teams. The Defense is a work in progress, but I have no doubt they will work it out, unlike previous letdowns under Harris, Wannstedt, Graham, and Chryst!
I very much respect many Posters that post here as well, and show they know more, and often criticize with expectations of doing better. This is only the 6th game, but I look forward to the games now more than ever. I sincerely believe Pitt Football is heading in the right direction. I also can see this Pitt Team and Program is still rebuilding. Yet, I feel this Team can beat everyone on the remaining schedule including Miami and Clemson.
I may be wrong, but will know more after GT but except for Navy last year, these Coaches and Players show up as Team and play all 4 Quarters. They have had huge letdowns last and this year, but they still comeback and just prepare for the next game together. There will be future letdowns like any growing Team and Rebuilding Program. Still, I see, read, and witness a vast difference in attitude, discipline, work ethic, classroom responsibilities, and off the gridiron behavior accountability. Unlike what has happen since 1996?
The Team can still go 10-3, 9-4, 8-5 or 7-6, but everyone they play know they are in a game and this is what Coach Pat Narduzzi promised when he came to Pitt and is doing it. Pitt Pat & Staff are up against some Great Coaches in Johnson, Mendenhall, Fuente, Richt, Swinney, Cutcliffe and Babers. Along with Top Talent at QBS, WRs, and RBs but if the Defense can just improve a tad on executions on Tackling, Turnovers, and Coverage's. The Pitt Offense can play with anybody and in the future looks far brighter.
This GT Game is going to be a good measurement test for Pitt. GT just loss back to back against Miami and Clemson, and Pitt in the future will be facing the Teams back to back later. Miami is leading the ACC Coastal and Clemson is leading the National last and this year as an Elite Team! Still, GT, UVA, and VT won't be easy either?
I am confident this New Head Coach Pat Narduzzi, OC Canada, and Staff with just make this Young Pitt Team just get better. Last and this year have been better than ever before on so many small things done right then the last 20 years! We shall see?
Welcome feedback on how others feel and respect if others differ too.
Here is the Preview Excerpt & Link & Prediction:
The Panthers (3-2, 0-1 ACC) blew a four-touchdown lead against Marshall before pulling away late to beat the Thundering Herd, 43-27, last Saturday night. Pat Narduzzi’s squad avoided another disaster two weeks after giving up a late go-ahead touchdown in a loss at Oklahoma State and seven days after a 13-point fourth-quarter lead turned into a last-second loss at North Carolina.
Meanwhile, the Yellow Jackets once again could not solve Mark Richt in Atlanta, as the new Miami head coach moved to 14-0 as a head coach and an assistant against the Yellow Jackets in Atlanta. Georgia Tech quarterback Justin Thomas lost two fumbles that were returned for touchdowns as the Yellow Jackets fell 35-21.
Last season, the Panthers edged the Yellow Jackets, 31-28, on Chris Blewitt’s 56-yard field goal with 1:11 to go. Georgia Tech had won two straight in the series before that loss.........
...........One aspect of the Panthers worth noting is that Narduzzi played a lot of freshmen against the Herd, including running back Chawntez Moss and wide receivers Tre Tipton and Maurice Ffrench. Those three combined for 156 yards of total offense and a pair of touchdowns...........
.........Justin Thomas and the Georgia Tech offense did manage to record 361 yards after being shut down in a 26-7 loss to Clemson, but the three turnovers by Thomas were critical.....
Advantages:
Offense: Pitt. Quarterback Nate Peterman had a season-high 280 passing yards and two scores against Marshall, as the Panthers outgained the Thundering Herd 532-344.
Defense: Even. Pitt entered the game against Marshall with a pass defense that ranked No. 127 nationally, next-to-last in the FBS. The defense wasn’t great against the Herd, but that area shouldn’t get exposed against the Jackets. While Thomas is one of the better passers Johnson has had in Atlanta, Georgia Tech is still a ground-based squad.
Special Teams: Pitt. Electric Panthers receiver Quadree Henderson is always a threat to run a kickoff back for a score.
Coaching: Even. Can Johnson get the Jackets back on track, and will Narduzzi be able to elevate the Panthers to a top-tier ACC squad?
Intangibles: Pitt. The Panthers will be at home and know that they need to start racking up wins in league play.
