Pitt has sold out its allotment for the Pinstripe Bowl

Awesome news! Hopefully people are still buying tickets on StubHub (or other sites) to make this a home game for PITT.

1 day earlier than I predicted based on the pace they were selling.

I'd estimate another 500-1000 sales through Pitt plus another 2K-3K Pitt fans who didn't buy through Pitt.

Total Pitt fans around 10K. Now, that may sound like a lot to us but for a driveable bowl game, that's pretty much the bear minimum expectation from these bowls.

Great news. Two years in a row. This may start to change the perception in the business.

Eh - maybe. Unfortunately the ACC is allowed to get involved in some of these bowl decisions and I just don't see them doing us any favors over a southern school any time soon. JMO.

Having said that, this certainly does NOT hurt perception at all.

Not just that, these are the 2 closest bowl games in proximity. It will still be a tough sell to get the RA, Belk, MC, or TaxSlayer bowls to pick us over southern teams which have easier drives.

One good thing though is its not the big east anymore. All those bowls have good picks from the other P5 which travel well. And the allotments now are smaller than the past. So Pitt not totally blocked imo.

Thanks for the positive ending spin.

We have to show the ACC we can be a brand too. They need Pitt to be strong. They didn't bring us in just to sit on the shelf and look pretty.

Seriously...leave it up to you to spin it like this. How do you know what the expectations of the bows committees are? Did you work for a bowl committee?

The excitement of Pitt fans at a bowl game far exceeds that of a normal season home game. Can't wait - you should make every effort to be there!

this lack of traveling always got a bad rap, Look at some of the locals and situations. Birmingham three years in a row coming off 6-6 seasons? Detroit & Charlotte the day after Christmas, also coming off disappointments. Arizona & El-Paso, not exactly easy to get to.

Meanwhile, noted "traveling" schools have also had recent issues, such as Virginia Tech selling bowl tickets, even to the BCS.

I think if we had a good season and won the ACC and ended up in the Orange or Sugar, we would get a decent crowd.

Yeah, a lot of mid tierbowls would love to get 10K fans from each team. Ridiculous to suggest that is the "bear" minimum.

Sean Miller Fan is a Covert Nitwit. Based on his use of the English language, a Branch Campus Dummy as well. Maybe he's just Balou from Jungle Book ..,"Bear Necessities" ? Nah, Branch Campus Dummy!

Ugh. The BS opinions you spout continuously as declarative truths are tiresome.

Pitt wouldnt have much trouble selling 8-10k to a decent bowl that was 1 day driveable or round trip under 400. So its simple to back that out.
Music City-nashville, both work
Belk- charlotte, both work
Tax Slayer- Jacksonville not a day drive and its right around the 400 mark.
Sun-el paso, not drivable, $ flight, dangerous place
Russell/Citrus- orlando, obviously not driveable but certainly round trip under 400 and lots to do there.

Im not gonna break down the lower ones, all doable other than independence cause u cant drive or fly there easily.

So realisically sun and tax slayer would pass on hs if possible. Belk is different bowl but apparently we did give ourselves a bad rep with them due to terrible turnout in the past

The Music City and Belk are both reasonable drives but the belk will always have 4-5 schools within 2 or 3 hours so I cant see us wver ever playing there.

The Music City, the ACC is only getting 1 more time and they are waiting for ND or bigger fish.

I would have thought our best chance at the RA was this year. 8-4, ranked, WVU the opponent. Unlucky for us that Miami was right there to be picked.
