Looking back on the Evans era. Man the team played some awesome non-conference scheudles.

They had home and homes with Oklahoma, Arizona, Illinois, WV and the Big East was great.

In 88-89 - a team that was a #8 seed their non-conference was...

Home- WVU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma St
Neutral- Northwestern
Away- Arizona, Florida

They only played 5 'smaller conference teams'- Duquesne, Toledo, Jacksonville, Siena, Robert Morris (interestingly losing to Siena and Duquesne)

Look at our out of conference in say 2007-08 probably the toughest in the Dixon- Howland era.

Home- Oklahoma St., St. Louis
Away- Washington, Dayton
Neutral- Duke

8 games from 'minor or mid-majors' all at home

Dixon usually played a few decent home and homes (FSU, Auburn, Wis, South Carolina, PSU) but the Big East went to 18 games for 09 so he cut those games out and went with just Duquesne plus the 4 game exempt event plus 8 cupcakes. Sometimes one of the cupcakes was substitited for a good neutral site game.

They had a home and home with UCLA too...

I remember those days. We played anyone and everyone. Anywhere. A lot of made for TV matchups. But you look at the scores, you look at the roster and talent, my god, if we even had 10% coaching, we could have done some damage. How many NCAA games did we win in that stretch? How many BET games? It was just ridiculous. It was fun, a lot of 91-88 losses, but fun.
