Probable's from ISU's Website
125: Ethan Perryman (17-9) vs. #23 Nick Babin (7-4)
133: #5 Evan Frost (12-2) vs. Tyler Chappell (3-4)
141: #11 Jacob Frost (22-4) vs. Anthony Santaniello (9-8) -or- Briar Priest (10-5)
149: #7 Paniro Johnson (17-3) vs. #23 Finn Solomon (11-6) -or- Kade Brown (10-2)
157: #11 Cody Chittum (13-2) vs. #23 Dylan Evans (15-5)
165: Aiden Riggins (9-12) vs. Jared Kelsar (6-8) -or- Kelin Laffey (6-3)
174: #21 MJ Gaitan (10-6) vs. #18 Luca Augustine (13-5)
184: #10 Evan Bockman (11-4) -or- Nando Villaescusa (11-6) vs. #13 Reece Heller (16-3)
197: Nate Schon (12-7) -or- Tate Naaktgeboren (8-0) vs. #10 Mac Stout (17-2)
285: #26 Daniel Herrera (19-8) vs. #13 Dayton Pitzer (9-2)

125: Perryman beat all three of our 125lb backups. But all matches were within 5 points and two of them were only by 2. I think Babin has this one as Perryman is not the starter for ISU and while solid, has just been filling in so far this year. PITT FAVORED
133: Returning AA against a backup 125/133. Anything other than 5/6 here would be great. ISU FAVORED
141: Frost is 23-4 on the year and has not lost since December. Ant could keep this close but J.Frost is the favorite. ISU FAVORED
149: Paniro spent half the year at 157 and is undefeated since dropping down. He wrestles almost all his matches close so I think either one of Pitt's guys can take this one from him. TOSS UP
157: Chittum is having a really good year this season. He has two losses to backups but some very strong wins outside of that. Evans is really good but I think Chittum is just a little bit ahead of him at the moment. ISU FAVORED
First Half: 1 Pitt Fav, 2 Toss, 3 Isu fav
165: Riggins started the year at 174, since coming down he has looked better, but far from unbeatable. If Keslar was more consistent I would favor him, but since he is so unreliable I have to call this a TOSS UP
174: Gaitan started the year at 165 then moved up, he is 2-4 at 174 this year with multiple losses to guys Luca has beat. Further he is 0-2 against Luca in his career. However, when he is at his best he is AA caliber so I have to call this a TOSS UP
184: This is as much of a toss up as you will see. Heller winning this one could really give him some helium in the rankings and cement him as a T10 guy. TOSS UP
197: Mac will either face a sucked down Schon or Tate Naak coming up from 174. I would expect Mac to put bonus points on either of these guys. PITT FAVROED
285: Herrera is good for a true fresh HW, but Dayton is a better wrestler right now and has performed better against similar opponents, would like to see him chase bonus here. PITT FAVORED
2nd Half: 2 Pitt Fav, 3 Toss, 0 Isu Fav

Overall: 3 Pitt Fav, 4 Toss, 3 Isu Fav
This is a winnable dual against a very good (but incredibly injury-riddled) team. If we can go 2-0 this weekend that means our guys have really got it going and would improve our chance of sending a large squad to Philly for nationals.

(After last night) I would move 149 to ISU favored, 174 to Pitt favored and 285 to toss up.
I think we gonna see Kade here. He is a better athlete than Finn and his offensive output is better suited to putting pressure on Johnson.

Not sure Finn can do the same without getting put into a compromising position like he did last night

I think it's a match we can win, but I would not call any of our 149s a toss up vs. Paniro.

Im not calling it a toss up. I just think Brown has the better skillset to pull off the upset

Trust me I understand the possible rationale but I just don’t understand not trying to win the match. Why even schedule this match? Canceled Binghamton to wrestle backups and not try vs Iowa State

That was exciting to see Kade against a top ranked guy. Would have liked to see him go for shot in OT. Nothing to lose. Still a great performance. Especially for true freshman in that environment.

So far, ISU has had backups at 125, 141 (only starting because of 2 season-ending injuries), 157, 165 (another season-ending injury), and potentially 184 (the starter has mono), 197 (starter left for personal reasons), and 285 (another season-ending injury). This is far from a true starters vs. starters dual.
Pitt has started 2 of our normal starters so far, and it is TBD about 197, HWT

Great effort from Kade, he just couldn't get any offense going against Paniro
Paniro being a lefty really hurt Brown's offense. His low single is only ever shot at the left leg. Johnson leading with his right leg rendered that attack useless, and Brown had nothing else to go to.

A straight double or a straight on low single at the right leg would have been super useful. Something to work on for the future.
