This shows a couple things.

- Even going 7-5 is 2 games better than what our talent should allow us to. Inotherwords, coaching got us 2 extra wins, if we can get to 7.

- Our schedule is very difficult for the talent Chryst left us with. He got out at the perfect time because its possible he could have went 3-9, 4-8, or 5-7 and been fired.

- We need a major talent upgrade. Besides Boyd and Conner, our talent level is as low as its been since the early Walt days.

- Narduzzi is soaking every ounce out of this group.

- We should be a very slight favorite over Louisville but 6-6 is a real possibility. Though, I predict 7-5.

Even though we lost a tough one Thursday night. There isn't a game left that I feel we can't win. Its been a long time since I've felt that way. With Miami beating Duke and ND only beating Temple by 4, both teams look human an we have a chance in every game we have left. When is the last time anyone has felt that way about a Pitt team.

I cannot see us being a home dog v Miami or Louisville.. the other 2, yes.

The home and away with this schedule is less favorable than last year.
I have said this is a modestly talented team, and I think that is accurate.
Your top 20ish to top 40ish teams are not really that different from a "talent" standpoint.
Coaching makes or breaks one way or another more often than not.

While I agree that we need a major talent upgrade, it is not true that our talent level is as low as the early Walt days. In Walt's second year, we lost to Rutgers and Temple, if my memory is correct. That was not a very talented team.

We have players on this team who will emerge as they become Sophs and Juniors. We have better lineman and a better QB. We have many good players and just need a slight upgrade in speed and athleticism at a few spots. Some of that has already been addressed, like Hendrix at DE and the young LBs...

Go PItt.

Miami's players are way better than ours. I think Vegas knows that. They are just poorly coached an undisiplined. We can beat them but they are better.

The season is going just as predicted, one play and game at a time. Pitt can win all 4 and lose all 4, and our close wins and losses should have been expected based on a New Head Coach, New OC, New DC, New ST Coaches. and New Systems! Throw in a New QB, New RBs, Lost of Connor, and one can see improvements on Defense and Special Teams and Attitude and some questions on Offense like not Playing Whitehead, developing more WRs for Boyd, and using Chad at Times.......but that is to be expected.

The No Quit Attitude is the biggest change with on all 3 Units, Players play with Focus, Discipline, and avoid the sloppy mistakes and all Games won and lost by 4 to 5 Plays.

Yet, Notre Dame, Duke are Ranked and well coached Teams with Talent and Experience. ULou will always be a tough game even in a down year due to Petrino coaching. Miami has teh talent and if its gets the coaching they can just as tough as the other 3?

Pitt needs an infusion of talent but it is clear the next 4 games will determine of the Coaching can continue to be an infusion of good coaching too. Up to the Coaches and Players to execute their jobs?

I cannot predict what will happen and it is game to game. But I like what i see from Coach Pat! The ACC has 2 Teams that are 9s to 10s in Clemson and FSU, Three that are 6.5s to 7s in UNC, Duke, and maybe Pitt, and all the rest are 6s from Miami, VT, UVA, GT, NCS, ULou, BC, Cuse, and Wake may be a 4! All on a scales of 1 to 10! Pitt can still go 6-6, 7-5, 8-4 to 9-3!

The same goes for my WVU Prediction of Dana being a good coach but may be replaced anyway. Dana hasa godo team but going against some great Big-12 Coaches & QBs in TCU, Baylor, OU, and OKSU all 8s to 10s, even Texas Tech, KSU, and Texas all about equal and being 6.5s to 7s, and ISU and Kansas at 4 or lower. I can't understand Texas and Charlie Strong losing 124-0 to ISU and their season? They will go 5-7 to 6-6, to 7-5!

Penn State predictions going pretty much the same, Penn State is a 6.5 to 7 Team too about equal with NW, but behind OSU, MSU, and Michigan that are 8.5s to 10s, and all the erst if their Teams on their schedule being 3s to 5s. They will go 7-5 to 8-4!

All 3 Programs are still rebuilding:

Pitt Needs Recruiting Talent!

WVU Needs New Coaching!

Penn State Needs To Develop Their Talent!

Agree

The talent cupboard is slim , relatively, in terms of filling out the first teams and depth.
That is a fact

First year head coach and no All-American running back. Definitely going to be underdogs a lot under those conditions. Miami though? We'd have to really be slumping into that game to be underdogs. That or Miami wins every game from now until then. I think the latter is probably more likely. Al Golden was just a bad coach, one game gone and even if they wouldn't have returned that kick you could have made the case they were much improved already.

They had 23 penalties for just under 200 yards last night, they are very undisciplined, but do have talent.
