Pitt is starting to get some more national attention now. But i think many including the computers still are unsure about what Pitt has. They need a statement win to swing the attention to them. Two back to back national TV will give them the viewers. They have to win and start putting all the pieces together for people to really start taking notice. To many jeckle/hyde performances so far. They can make that statement Friday night and put together a dominant showing. I think this young Panthers team knows the opportunity that lays in front of them and wants to seize it. Keep winning and good things will come

Couldn't agree more. They haven't handled success well in previous years. Hope they don't come out flat.

Pitt's biggest problem with perception is the historical ability to Pitt away games and or seasons. There's not legitimate reason why this program can't dominate the Coastal.

we won some squeakers, and lost some too with exception of the Virginia game in the second half.

Yes, just like there was no legitimate reason why we shouldn’t have dominated the BE after the top dogs bolted for the ACC. But like you say, we very Pitt-like Pitted away games and seasons.

Adding on to the above thought, it is one major head scratcher how we have had a good number of players that not only went on to the NFL but starred in the NFL - multiple guys being considered one of if not the best at their respective position when they were in the NFL - and yet we haven’t been able to piece together at least 1 really good team in the last 20-30 years.

I know it takes more than a few good players to make a good team but common.

That is the preception they have to change. And the only way to do it is win!

Speaking of on the radar, caught in another thread that an SI article has us going to the Orange Bowl and playing ND:

I thought at first this was crazy, but if(big if) Pitt wins out, UVA loses again, then Pitt wins coastal. Clemson has to win out and get the CFP. Pitt goes Orange. That’s the type of thing that could lift the program. And, I might add, if/when PSU loses, they would likely not even get a shot at the Rose Bowl. Crazy.
