He said Narduzzi and Partridge were obviously surprised. Reasoning that he wants to give younger guys a chance. Odd, but oh well. Great kid.Morgan leaving hurts
No it doesn't we got capable replacementsMorgan leaving hurts
Yep it makes zero senseWhat I don't get is impactful players/starters leaving. You found a home. You start. You're making an impact. No guarantees you'll fit in elsewhere.
Yeah it doesNo it doesn't we got capable replacements
That’s the issue and reason why so many people were surprised with Addison leaving. Starter, star of the team, award winner, and likely a first round pick. Some writer last year referenced that and how it could set up a bad precedent. What I don't get is impactful players/starters leaving. You found a home. You start. You're making an impact. Does anyone here think that is the actual reason? He said Narduzzi and Partridge were obviously surprised. Reasoning that he wants to give younger guys a chance. Odd, but oh well. Great kid.

No but it sounds kinderDoes anyone here think that is the actual reason?
I hate the transfer rule, but understand how they want to give kids a chance to see the field

What team plays mostly against drop back passers? He made it sound like he would have options, and I can’t think of teams or conferences who face that on a consistent basis. You can read the article and decide for yourself. He sounds sincere.
PSN Exclusive: DE John Morgan on Transferring from Pitt: ‘It Would Be Wrong of Me to Stay’
John Morgan has seen and experienced a lot during his five years with the Pitt Panther football program, but that run will come to an end after the 2022 season. The pass-rushing defensive end from Upper Marlboro, Maryland has been a part of 40 Pitt wins, has been a member of a Pitt defense...pittsburghsportsnow.com
I don't know. If he thinks he can showcase himself better elsewhere that's up to him. I know he has the experience and production, but I am anxious to see some of the highly rated youngsters get out there. What team plays mostly against drop back passers? Nobody has ever transferred to give guys behind them more PT.You can read the article and decide for yourself. He sounds sincere.

I would be. Why would anyone throw money at a 6th year platoon defensive end from Pitt? Will not surprised if there is NIL money in play from another school.
When I read about it that was my own first reaction. Just figured he was told he wouldn’t get much PT next season due to the need to elevate some of the younger guys, and decided to move elsewhere with aim to start and play in his final college season. Almost certainly that will be a program in a conference lower than ours, with not much if any NIL money at its disposal. Of course there are a few “aspiring” programs like JMU, Liberty, East Carolina etc that may hunger to bring in some guys from P5’s and maybe they have some delusional boosters who will throw him some shekels. Nothing against him, so I hope it works out.I would be. Why would anyone throw money at a 6th year platoon defensive end from Pitt?
I honestly think he was going to start and play a ton--but maybe he wasn't happy with how he was going to be used. I think due to his size he sees his NFL opportunity as a stand up pass rusher, basically a 3-4 OLB the same way Jones and Weaver are used. Weaver and Jones were much better all-around 4-3 ends than Morgan, they were solid against the run, setting the edge, etc. Morgan is more of a one-trick pony. He's twitchy and explosive off the edge and can get after the QB, but he's not a hand on the ground kind of DE who's going to stand up a blocker and take away the edge. When I read about it that was my own first reaction. We'll be empty nest fans. They all leave eventually.
I know it feels like it but Pitt isn't the only school seeing this sort of thing happening. The dynamic is definitely changing but you lose good players every season. We'll be empty nest fans.

I'm not so sure they're going to lose fans every season, too. This completely changes the dynamics of college football. And, not for the better.I know it feels like it but Pitt isn't the only school seeing this sort of thing happening. The dynamic is definitely changing but you lose good players every season.
It will be interesting to look back in a few years and see what the transfer portal has done to the sport.I'm not so sure they're going to lose fans every season, too. This completely changes the dynamics of college football. And, not for the better.
We're going to have more roster changes to other teams than the NFL.
Not Pitt related, but interesting. Astounding how many highly recruited kids that are one or two years removed from HS are in the portal. So many WRs and DBs.
Sure, JA played with a better qb, but he also played on a team with much better wide receivers. Wayne had more yards here, with a mediocre qb, than he did at USC with the best qb. His stats likely would have been much better at Pitt, and he might have garnered some national honors - like he did last year. While i understand your POV, these cases are a little different i think
JA lost his QB here, and had a chance to play with what turns out to be the Heisman winner.
Morgan will rush the passer anywhere.
I wont even dive into the NIL $$$
So because the NCAA has screwed up for decades you want kids (your word) to suffer?I hope it ends poorly for as many of those kids chasing $$$ as possible. Not because I begrudge these kids for making money but because i want this all to implode ASAP.
Its hard for me to buy into this.
Color me dubious, but I think another school got in his ear and promised him the moon
Let's see where he ends up and what he has to say
