Some folks like to point to class ranking. Maybe they have some marginal value if you are speaking in GENERAL terms and have no other info, but when you are talking about a specific HC, and that coach has a track record in recruiting, I don't see the point. Personally, I'm fine with whomever PN brings in, because I respect his track record of identifying and developing talent.

But for anyone who give credence to class rank, consider what this staff has done with recruiting that is off the class ranking grid.

Nate Peterman: Immediate upgrade at QB this season. Given all the close wins we had, probably the difference between our 8-4 season, lifting the feeling about the direction of the program and aiding with HS recruitng, and another 6-6 finish. He's back next year too. Huge pickup.

DeWayne Hendrix: One of the top (ranked #6) DEs in the nation, he played as true freshman at Tennessee. As certain a starter as Whitehead is on defense next year, he should seriously upgrade the position.

Chris Clark: last year's #1 TE, will step in in 2017 when our current guys move on. Fills a huge hole at TE, with top end talent.

Allen Edwards: DE JUCO transfer. I'm not usually very hopeful with JUCOs, but the staff liked him enough that they considered breaking his redshirt and playing him this year, and PN called him a freak. Should be in the DE rotation this year, and possible starter if Price doesn't get a 6th year.

Juwann Winfree: Expected to commit, very possibly this weekend during his official visit. Star WR who played at MD last year. Projected starter to replace Boyd, and with very high end potential.

None of these guys will show up on the 2015, '16, or '17 class rankings. But they represent a serious upgrade of talent through recruiting. Yet another big reason to ignore class rankings.

Good point. Good to have a coach who not only IDs the problems, but finds solutions. We've been hurtin' at DE for a long time. Now it looks like we're going to have some guys who can pressure the QB...

If only Coach Duzz had been involved a bit earlier with the 412 crew -- still some chances I guess...

Go Pitt.

Let's not count guys who haven't committed to Pitt yet. And let's also see if Clark is still at Pitt in 2 years. There is ample evidence to make that a questionable proposition.

Ok, fair point on Winfree. But while Clark may be questionable long term, so is every HS recruit committed to every school in the country.
