It gives us 2 extra days to prepare for our biggest game of the season. I dont care what anyone says, you cant put a price on beating Penn State and if 2 extra days helped, even in the slightest, I'd take the tradeoff of 10,000 less fans (maybe) for the Thursday nighter. The Pirates have Saturday night booked so we're probably looking at a nooner against Nova anyway.

Heck, if its Thursday night and Conner is back, maybe ESPNU or FSS pick up the game and we actually get on TV. No way that happens on Saturday.

Opening on a Thursday night is customary in college football. There are at least 20 Thursday openers so its not like it never happens.

Normally I would say one Thursday night game is enough and I can't believe I am about to say this. But that isn't really the worst idea in the world.

No no no. Rib fest can't be on a Thursday. Temple tried this a few years back with horrible attendance results.

Makes sense from a competition standpoint, but really unlikely because it would certainly lead to (at least temporary) shortcomings in sales.

I dont think they will really be focusing and practicing to play villanova. A majority of their time when fall camp opens, will be on penn state. U dont spend a ton of time prepping for an fcs team. Thats meant to be the final dress rehersal. Unforunately this approach can backfire....yeah.....

100 people might show up for the game if that was the case. But totally agree about the benefits, beating Penn State is the number 1 priority from now until that game is played.

Would be something different to try. But don't see it mattering much and too many people would complain. Only way it would fly would be if tv pushed it.

Dumb idea I don't care what other programs open on Thursday, first Saturday of the college football season is awesome

Swing and miss SMF

I hope Pitt is ready for Penn State and beats them to Hellenbach. One thing I'm sure of is that the coach on the enemy sideline won't intimidate the refs into a bogus holding penalty or illegal fair catch call, or question the length of Pitt's cleats, fuss about his wife's seat location, call Pitt players a disgrace to football, or get time added to the clock at game's end for a critical field goal attempt. The field boundaries will remain rectangular with straight edges.

Not that I have a long memory or anything about villains (presumably) dead and buried.
