Pitt was a lot of things in its 27-24 loss to Iowa Saturday night.
At times, the Panthers were sloppy. At other times, they were stout. They were alternately disciplined and in disarray. They were in the right place at the right time and they busted on some key plays.
But Pat Narduzzi had another way to describe his team after its first loss with him as head coach.
"Our kids fought their tails off; I can tell you that," Narduzzi said Saturday night. "I'm real proud of our football team, the way they went out and fought for four quarters.
"We talk about toughness and being a tough-ass team, and that's what our kids were today. So I think they proved a lot of things to a lot of people. I'm really fired up about how they played the game today."
