Not all but most. Should be a good amount of Pitt fans there. I'm looking forward to my once-a-decade trip to Death Valley

I think this trip is a no brainer if you are a fan of college football. With the current ACC scheduling Pitt will only be there once every twelve years. I've been excited for this trip since we made the move to the ACC. 3:30 start is ideal. Nice afternoon tailgate, and dark by the end of the game. Long range forecast looks like temps in the mid 60's.

Got my tickets in the mail yesterday. I'm pumped. Sounds like a lot of Pitt fans will be down there.

It's once every 12. You have 6 cross divisional opponents (Cuse we play every year), so you see them every 6 years, so that would be 12 to get back down there since in 6 years they'll be at Heinz.

My mistake. Too damned long of a period regardless.

They could of sold them all if they would have sold them to none season ticket holders. I called them for tickets and they would not sell them to me. I bought my off of Stub Hub. Stupid rule. Again this is why they can't sell out home games or get full crowds to road games.

Agreed. I knew this stupid rule and didn't even try to get my tickets from Pitt. I think a compromise where you give season ticket holders until a certain date to purchase any of the road tickets. Once that date passes then put out a message that there are X # of tickets available for these games.

Agree with this. I didn't know that rule existed, or at least them not having a cutoff date.

Season ticket holders should have priority, but it is dumb not to have a cutoff date before they open to the general public.

I've never seen a business that leaves money on the table like this one does.

"(from 2000-2015) Wanna' sell beer to the general public? Nah, we good."

"Want to sell road game seats to people other than season ticket holders? Nah, we good."

I don't think visiting teams make any money off selling their allotted tickets. That said, Pitt very very rarely sells out of road tickets so I would think they should let anybody request tickets but assign them based on PC rank, season ticket holder status, and if not either, then to Pitt alums.

For a fan base that stinks at filling its own stadium let alone others every avenue should be open for purchasing seats.

I am season ticket holder and tried to buy 2 a couple of weeks ago and was told they had none left.

Will have to get from StubHub

I'll tell you one thing, this is my 17th Pitt road trip over the last 15 years, and Pitt road fans are absolutely awesome. I have more fun with them than I do at any home games.

Agree with this. Living in ACC country affords me the opportunity to see 1-2 road games/season. The PITT fans and families of the players are absolutely great to speak with before, during, and after the game. I love attending home games in Pittsburgh when I can, but the opportunity to see and cheer on PITT at visiting stadiums is a close second.

I've said for a while we should offer a road game season ticket package. If you travel to watch this team you're passionate and usually knowledgeable. Best Pitt game I've ever attended was the 2002 Virginia Tech roadtrip.

Not sure what you're talking about, I buy tickets to a road game every year (Syracuse last year, Miami this year) and I AM NOT a season ticket holder. I am an alum and member of the Panther Club (maybe mid range in ranking?), so I guess I am not considered "general public", but I have never been refused road game tickets.

The solution is simple.
BECOME A SEASON TICKET HOLDER.

SMF - I think this is incorrect. I was told that Pitt sold out their allotment.

Likely depends when you called and asked for the tickets. The visiting team typically can return unsold tickets two weeks before the game without paying for them or any penalty. So if you called before Pitt returned any unsold tickets from their allotment--you were likely able to buy tickets. I knew before the season that this would be the biggest road Pitt crowd--and I suspect I will be proven right. Looking forward to the trip this weekend to Miami, and to Clemson the following weekend--will be nice to be hanging out and cheering with the loyal fans. Hail to Pitt!

I am season ticket holder and Panther Club. Ticket office didn't have any left but today I picked up 2 from Clemson ticket office. They were singles but back-to-back. Looking forward to trip. Staying in Greensville Friday and Saturday night.

They returned a few, not many. I bought mine through Pitt but got a few extra by calling Clemson's ticket office. They said Pitt returned a few. My guess based on section availability was less than 50. Could be the player or coach "hold-backs" (mom and dad cant make it for exampme) that PSU returned to us and got upset when Barnes announced it.

In any event, this will be one of the biggest Pitt traveling parties in recent memory.

That might be what Clemson told you, but I know for a fact that the Pitt ticket office sold out. And I know that because I have a couple friends who are season ticket holders who called last week for tickets. I don't see why Pitt should have lied about this. They were directed to Stub Hub.

I'm curious when the cutoff is to return tickets to the home team. I ask only because I have friends who attempted to get tickets early last week and they were specifically told that Pitt sold out their allotment. Seems awful early to be giving back tickets, but I always order ours pre-season, so not sure the protocol.

It is covered by the contract between the teams [or the ACC] for conference games. Traditionally it has always been two weeks. I know that is precisely why Pitt waits to mail away game tickets until two weeks before kick off. I'm not sure how much more definitive I can get for you...but that is what I know from buying away game tickets from Pitt for several decades, and from chatting with people that work in the athletic department/ticket office. So in order to buy tickets for Clemson through the Pitt Ticket Office, you would have needed to call prior to October 28 [possibly a couple days earlier in order to facilitate filling the orders and processing the orders, etc]. Hail to Pitt!

I love important arguments over when pitt mails back away game tickets
Actually it is kind of important if Pitt fans were calling for tickets and told they were sold out when in fact they weren't. Seems very odd to me.
