Here I sit on the day before Thanksgiving, spending too much time each day perusing the internet to keep up with the latest on our ranked Pitt Panthers, trying to configure some reasonable itinerary to go to the ACC Championship Game, and pondering the outcomes of major national awards for which our Panthers have a very credible shot at winning, including the Biletnikoff for Addison, the Broyles for Whip, and the O'Brien, Unitas, Maxwell and... HEISMAN TROPHY FOR KENNY PICKETT. Not to mention Tre Tipton, in year 7, has already bagged the Disney Spirit Award as the most inspiring story in CFB - God bless that not-so-young man and all he's been through.

What a dream. Yes, a dream, because if I wake up tomorrow in a hospital bed, and they tell me "we're sorry, sir, but you've been doped to high heaven in a medically-induced coma. Pitt is actually 7-4, Kenny has 14 touchdowns and 10 picks, Whipple hasn't called a run play in 3 weeks, and one-half of the Panther-Lair wants to fire Narduzzi", it would probably be more plausible than our current reality.

I have been a Kenny Pickett fan from day 1 - more on that some other time - but the Heisman? Really? Did ANYBODY see that coming in August? I mean, did anyone see it coming after Western Michigan? Yet here we are. It's preposterous. Somebody wake me up. Or better yet, don't.

9-2. Underranked at #17. Coastal Champs. Records shattered left and right. Depth all over the roster. Jordan Addison a Biletnikoff front-runner. Kenny Pickett up for ALL of the awards - and he's gonna win some of them -and really, perhaps best of all, he's the poster boy for all that is right in college football and he's the toast of CFB. Everybody loves the guy. He came back to school, had a blast, rewrote the record books, and earned himself an 8-figure payout as a 1st round pick and the top QB available. He's now a Pitt legend. It's an incredible story.

Just be sure to enjoy and appreciate all of it - as my 12-year old said when I asked him if he still wants to go to Charlotte, even though it means missing his first basketball game of the season, "Dad, if it's OK, I still really want to go to Charlotte. I'll have a lot of basketball games, and I mean, who knows when any of this is ever gonna happen again? I really wanna be there." Well said, kid.

It's all crazy. Unbelievable. But boy am I thankful for it. So I'm gonna go have a cold one and get ready for Syracuse. And Charlotte. H2P! Happy Thanksgiving Lairmen!
