Nice win fellas. And no matter whether you want him gone or not, we all should give credit to Capel for getting these guys to play together.
Great 31 minutes. Go for four in a row at home against the last place team. Hadn’t won three in a row in acc since 2014, first year in acc
Too early to judge. He doesn't have the resume like Roy did, so he's going to take some heat. But the Heels haven't been very good since 2019. They flat out sucked in 2019-20.
It's alarming how many nights they come out listless and can't match their opponents intensity though.
Great win for Pitt tonight.
Hadn't won three in a row in the ACC since last January, when we beat Syracuse, Syracuse and Duke in a row before the floor fell out from under us.
Haven't won four in a row in the ACC since 2014.
GT is a complete mess right now. We need to take care of them next.
That’s a reflection on Davis how they don’t come out ready to play. Pitt jumped on them from the start and he couldn’t get his team to respond even with the advantage in talent they have
Partly. But it's been in their culture for a while. They just aren't what you expect a Carolina team to be in terms of talent either.
Yeah. Capel still has a lot that is fair game for criticism, but he seems to have grown as a coach this year in terms of personality management. There have been several moments where this team could have been lost and the season fallen apart, but this team keeps fighting every game.
There were a lot of people rooting on the collapse that hasn’t happened.
if they find a way to go 2-2 the next couple games I’ll be very happy. If they go 3-1 he should be ACC coach of the year.
And they will most likely go 1-3 and could easily go 0-4. It was a great win last night, but being 120 KENPOM spots from the bubble in year 4 is still nothing to beat your chest over.
If it goes like this over last 4,
4-0 agree, coach of the year candidate
3-1 tangible progress, excited for next year
2-2 some progress, depending on roster management tempered enthusiasm for next year
1-3 tiny progress (aided by a bad league) and the skeptics (such as myself) will have ammo, thin ice in year 5
0-4 all hope will be gone and the mob will be back
I’m certainly willing to hope for the first one and hope we can get it on track, keep our players and land some meaningful transfers!

They have a big class coming in so maybe that saves Hubie and gives him more, but man, they looked like extremely poorly coached last night. Some of that was due to Pitt and playing well/making shots, but the lack of touches for Bacot in the post was criminal.
3-1 or 2-2 with a win/wins in the ACC tourney might make for the most excitement about this team since Capel was hired.
Agreed, but at 2-2 you’re still 4 games under so for most capel *haters* will depend on if Hugley stays, Femi stays etc
Roy wasn’t crazy about that group of players and that helped make his decision easier. The state of todays college basketball was another reason. So in fairness to Hubie he needs time and administration knows that. But…if the donors who didn’t like the Hubert decision push back enough…you never know what could happen.
Agreed. It is an insane trend we are seeing with coaches hand picking their successors. Obviously Roy and K earned a little bit of that, but Tubby Smith just stepped down from High Point so his son could finish his contract. How does tubby smith have that much power at High Point? They stink! It’s always interesting to see how they pan out.
Roy was at the game last night. I think he had to change his mask several times from filling them up with puke.
