Well, so much for the Penn State Dinosaurs Naysayers that keep saying Pitt is is not a Rival, but they can't name another Big Ten Team or any Team that considers them a Rival? So, Pitt actually is complimenting PSU for telling them, WE ARE....A RIVAL....Stateside, Statewide, and Historical in every way and this Game refutes the Dumber PSU fans that pretend it is not true?
If you don't think PSU fans cannot wait to play Pitt next year, so be it. I don't believe it! It will only get worse, Pitt will continue to recruit even better Talent and the Coaches will turn them into Better Players. Narduzzi will make it happen. If Pitt had Hamilton and Godwin they would have done even better, and Godwin and Hamilton may come to regret they did not choose Pitt!
McSorley said Pitt is not a rival, not sure, but next year he may have a different view, if he is still starting?
Excerpts:
PITTSBURGH — It started when James Conner stepped to the podium, flanked my his offensive line, and declared, "This is our state, you know what I'm saying?" It continued when Pat Narduzzi walked in. Asked about Pitt's clapping on defense — something Penn State coach James Franklin called a distraction — Narduzzi replied, "That's just another excuse." Later, after Pitt beat Penn State, 42-39, Panther players spoke to the media for the first time since last Saturday's victory over Villanova. But just because they weren't talking doesn't mean they stopped paying attention. Instead, they sat back and listened to what the Penn State players and coaches were saying................ "Coach Narduzzi kind of showed us a few things, a few people saying it wasn't a rivalry," said quarterback Nate Peterman. "That's fine if they don't think that, I guess. We'll see about next year............On the other side, though, Penn State coach James Franklin downplayed the concept, saying, "There's elements there from a historical perspective, but our players haven't done that. We approach this like every other game on our schedule. "The Nittany Lion players followed their coach's lead. Most notably, Quarterback Trace McSorley said he wouldn't call it a rivalry............"Everything they said on Twitter and throughout, I think it really drove us. Hopefully, they'll think this is a rivalry game now." ......Safety Jordan Whitehead, who chose Pitt over Penn State, echoed Peterman's thoughts. "I was watching a couple interviews and reading a couple tweets," Whitehead said. "To me, it was a rivalry. In-state game, two games that haven't played in 16 years. That's a rivalry." Pitt players didn't shy away from discussing the comments they tracked throughout the week, and, according to Quadree Henderson, Narduzzi told his players that Penn State was arrogant......"I like seeing the Penn State fans there just to shut them up at the end of the day," he said. "That's kind of cool."
