Pitt may have just salvaged their post-season today. They gave the Tar Heels their first conference loss by winning in five sets.

Pitt had been well positioned for an NCAA birth at the beginning of the month but lost 4 of 5 in mid-October, including a terrible loss at Wake, and were sliding right out of an NCAAs. But they started to turn things around last weekend with a sweep of Louisville and a win over NC State yesterday.

Pitt is now 17-7 and 8-4 in the ACC and Realtime RPI has them at #31 after their win over UNC.

They have 8 games left and can't really afford to lose many, if any. The biggest are at RPI top 50 Georgia Tech and at home against Duke who they lost to away.

Got the necessary sweep over at a poor Clemson team tonight. Sunday's match at RPI #48 Georgia Tech might decide whether Pitt gets an NCAA bid. It's the last chance to get a top 50 win. Pitt is currently sitting at RPI #30.

The win at Clemson dropped Pitt four spots in the RPI. Other than GT, Pitt only has one other game left against the top 100 and one other additional against the top 200. 4 games remain with teams at 200+. Pitt may have to win out.

Big 3-1 win over Georgia Tech this afternoon. Just when it looked like Pitt was about to blow the fourth set and set up a winner take all fifth set they righted the ship and got the last point they needed for the win.

The announcers on the ACC digital network were talking about how Georgia Tech didn't have any signature wins so far this year, so a win over Pitt would have been huge for them. I found that interesting given their place in the standings.

That was a huge, must win. Pitt moved up to #27 in the RPI. That will drop as the schedule ahead is just terrible. To feel safe, they really can drop another game.

Pitt has:
#236 Wake at home. Pitt inexcusably lost to Wake on the road.
#74 Duke at home who Pitt also lost to on the road.
at #204 Syracuse
at #226 BC
#170 Virginia Tech at home. Pitt defeated the Hokies 3-1 on the road.
at #252 UVA who Pitt swept earlier in the season

That's schedule is going to sink the RPI like a rock, so they really can't afford to lose any and hopefully they get their last top 100 win over Duke.
