Pitt vs Duke Saturday @Noon

We take on a very weak Duke squad in a chance to get a nice bounce-back win
The last I heard Duke doesn't give scholarships. If this is still the case, it's no wonder they are weak this year and every year. In fact, it's surprising that they have a team when no other ACC school that doesn't give wrestling schollies doesn't have a team.

I’m pretty sure they do give scholarships, but they aren’t close to fully funded at 9.9.

Preview:

125: Babin v. Grimminger
Grimminger is 3-12 on the year, Babin should make quick work in this one. PITT FAVORED

133: ? v. Adams
Adams was 0-2 against Vin last year, losing first by TF then 2-0. Adams has a few close losses this season, but is 6-19 overall if Vin goes he's the favorite. I am not sure if he is back for this one however, so assuming a backup is going I will call it a TOSS UP

141: Ant v. Colman
Colman is 3-13 on the year and Ant should get a nice bonus win here to continue his momentum from NCST. PITT FAVORED

149: Solomon v. S.P. O'Donnell
S.P. is 7-11 on the year, and based on his years results I expect Finn to win and win big. PITT FAVORED

157: Evans vs Ferero
Ferrero split with Keslar last year, he is 5-8 this year and while he could be dangerous he is someone Evans should beat. PITT FAVORED

HALF TIME: 4 Pitt Favored, 1 Toss Up, 0 Duke Favored

165: Keslar vs Wallace
Wallace is 22-6 on the year and looks to be pretty legit on this Duke squad. His best win was a SV win over Mac Church last week. He took 2nd at the Southern Scuffle and overall has been really solid this year. Keslar can beat him, as he is far from unbeatable, but this is another match that could easilt go both ways and has big ACC seeding implications. easily. TOSS UP

174: Augustine vs Console
Augustine won by TF when these two faced off last year. Console was not a full 174 at the time, so this match could be close but Luca wins this for sure. PITT FAVORED

184: Heller vs Hussey
Heller should win this by TF or FALL. PITT FAVORED

197: Stout vs Bonsu
Stout won by TF in both matchups last season and I would anticipate he does again here. PITT FAVORED

285: Pitzer vs Barket
Pitzer won 1-0 at ACC's last season when these two faced off. Based on their common results and the performance of Barket against borderline AA level guys this season I would have to expect Pitzer to win again and by a larger margin. PITT FAVORED

Overall: 8 Pitt Favored, 2 Toss up, 0 Duke Favored
We have a chance in this one for our first shut out of the season. Hope we can get it done and build some momentum going into the toughest 3 dual stretch of our schedule.

You were correct about the possible shut out. 42-0 win.

They do not give scholarships. Wrestling and rowing are the only two sports at Duke like this. (Per an article from their student newspaper)

It’s a shame because I feel they would recruit the northeast very well. On the other hand it would be annoying to see them good, lol.

Hey, everyone. Here's my story from Saturday's throttling of Duke: https://pittsburgh.rivals.com/news/chappell-s-victory-helps-pitt-blank-duke

Sorry, I haven't been as active this season on the message board or in writing articles about the team. It was a weird schedule to start and my workload at my real job ramped up in January.

I should have more time to cover the team over the final stretch of the regular season and the postseason.

I’m very excited for Dylan Evans, he reminds me so much of Gavin. He had much more success coming out of high school but just very technically sound in all areas not flashy, but gets the job done.
