Probably the Richmond game moved later. The ACC has said preferred future FCS games not to open season due to ACCN.

2020

The Miami (Ohio) RedHawks have added the Pitt Panthers to their 2020 football schedule, FBSchedules.com has learned.

A copy of the game contract was obtained from Miami University via a state open records request.

Miami will travel to face the Pitt Panthers at Heinz Field on Sept. 5, 2020. Miami will receive a $1.1 million guarantee for the game, according to the contract.

Miami and Pitt have met twice on the gridiron. The Panthers won both meetings, 61-0 in 1931 and 35-26 in 1949.

In order to schedule the game against Pitt, the Miami RedHawks have moved their previously scheduled game against Arkansas-Pine Bluff back one week from Sept. 5 to Sept. 12, 2020.

Additionally, Miami’s scheduled game at Minnesota on Sept. 12, 2020 has been pushed back one season to Sept. 11, 2021.

Both the UAPB and Minnesota game date moves were stated in documents obtained from Miami University.

Pitt was scheduled to open the 2020 season on Sept. 5 vs. the Richmond Spiders. That game will likely be moved to another date that season.

BREAKING NEWS! - Miami graduate Big Ben to sing the national anthem in a duo with Fergie.

What could go wrong?

That's a pretty good opponent for a non-Power 5. Hard to believe Pitt and Miami have only met twice in history, especially when you look at the number of games Pitt has played against the MAC over the years.

That's the 3-1 model everyone seems to use so good to see Pitt as well especially since FSU is the crossover. The next year - 2021 we play Clemson in the crossover and have scheduled a road game at Tennessee so the other three out of conference games must be all winable.

actually I think we play Louisville in 2021 and Clemson the following year in 2022 as crossovers. So as it now stands I believe in 2022 in addition to the Coastal foes we will play Clemson . Tennessee and West Virginia plus two opponents not yet named likely FCS and MAC team.Wouldn't surprise me to see EMU on a future one game addition.

To my knowledge, that is the first football game Lyke has scheduled since she's been here and it looks like she gets what needs to be done with the OOC.

Most teams in the ACC use the 2-2 model. Conferences that play 9 conference games use the 2-1 model.

Perhaps in the past . For example in 2018 out of the 13 other AAC schools nine will use the 3-1 model and just four (FSU-Clemson-Duke and Louisville ) have scheduled two and lest face it Clemson and FSU should with their talent level and Duke's two are Northwestern and Baylor and Louisville always plays Kentucky. Also the 2-2 method is acceptable if the second power five school is a perennial middle or bottom of the pack team from a major conference.
