but there we no, absolutely no reason Dixon should have subbed for Maia early in the second half, Maia was disruptive, defending well on the interior (who else did?), and rebounding.

We were playing well. Why make that change?

Look - I am keenly aware that Maia is not Bill Walton. Dixon stayed with what was working yesterday, why not today?

He never really figured out the rotation of Luther, Maia etc . But I don't know if it cost us a game.

I think Dixon we weren't going to stop their post game on defensive end..so we needed offense.

Not more complicated than that.

Meeks was the only player Maia was a decent matchup with defensively...and Roy recognized that and pretty much limited Meeks' PT today.

Maia played seven minutes and Meeks played during every One of them.

Maia was effective period when he was in and we didn't get an opportunity to see him not be effective or play defense vs anyone else.

Jamies sub patterns are a bit puzzling. He often makes substitutions when a player is hot and on a roll or when the combo on the floor is on a roll.

Another sub today that I didnt quite get was leaving CJ in the game. CJ has been short of awful. I get that he needed to sub Cam but when Cam came back in CJ stayed on the floor.

I know we're all more knowledge than the head coach ,but sometimes there's things we don't know that affects whose on the court. Defensive or offensive match ups , player is constantly out of position on either end of the court ,player injured and can only go so long etc.
Ps . They gave their all UNC too tough for Pitt once they starting hitting those 3's

Dixon said once early in his tenure that his philosphy was to always take someone out after they have made a successful play, so they can have positive thoughts, rather than after they just made a mistake when they might sit on the bench and stew over their mistakes.

He used to stress that his philosophy was positive reinforcement, not negative. That has been lost in the narrative in recent years.

I think playing Cam and Chris Jones together at that time was to give Artis a rest. I think Jamel had played virtually every minute to that point. He has not scored for quite a while and was looking fatigued. He did have a basket and a FT in the last 2 minutes.
