Pitt's Aliquippa's Pugh Named State's Class AA Player Of The Year; 5 Central Players Honored, LINK!

Another Player of The Year On Pitt's Recruiting Lists! New Jersey gave Pitt Two State Players of the Year. Now another Pitt recruits is listed in his State Class. Not to mention Whitehead and Ollison in the ACC!!!

Aliqiuppa senior running back/linebacker Kaezon Pugh was rewarded for a special season Tuesday, as he was named the Class AA Player of the Year by a group of Pennsylvania sports writers.


The Pitt recruit ran for nearly 5,000 yards in his career, including 109 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 49-14 loss to Southern Columbia in the PIAA championship game.


Pugh, also a PA Football Writers all-state selection last season, was joined again on the team by South Fayette senior running back Hunter Hayes.


Pugh's Aliquippa teammates, senior wide receiver Jassir Jordan, senior linebacker Darnell Gardner and senior defensive back Sheldon Jeter, also were named to the all-state team, along with Beaver Falls junior defensive lineman Donovan Jeter and Freeport senior linebacker Logan Thimons.


Ligonier Valley junior linebacker Elijah Parrish and junior athlete Collin Smith also were selected.


In Class AAAA, five players from PIAA champion Central Catholic were named to the all-state team, and Terry Totten was named the state's Coach of the Year after leading the Vikings to a 15-1 record and a 21-18 win over Parkland in the PIAA title game Saturday.


Central's honorees included senior defensive backs Damar Hamlin and Bricen Garner, senior defensive lineman Rashad Wheeler, senior running back Ronnie Jones and junior linebacker David Adams.



Other WPIAL players selected to the all-state team included Pine-Richland sophomore quarterback Phil Jurkovec and offensive lineman Matt Hampson, Woodland Hills senior running back Miles Sanders and senior linebacker Jo-El Shaw, Penn-Trafford senior wide receiver Tim Vecchio and McKeesport athlete Khaleke Hudson.


Brashear senior defensive back Therran Coleman also was selected.


The Class A and AAA all-state teams will be released Wednesday.
