Rival's Farrell admits he made a mistake on choosing Robert Foster over Tyler Boyd on Recruiting Rankings 3 years ago. Looks like he is not making that mistake regarding the NFL Draft. Great Link to evaluate Rival Recruits and now NFL Draft Picks.

Just shows Smart Recruits choose Pitt! It is a Pitt Tradition......If you have talent you play early and often at Pitt and will be ready for the NFL!

:

Ranking: From Clairton, Pa., Boyd was rated as the No. 12 wide receiver and No. 103 in the 2013 rankings. The four-star prospect was sixth in the Pennsylvania state rankings. He scored 50 touchdowns in his senior season and 117 in his high school career.

Recruiting: It was no shock at all that Boyd picked Pitt at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. The Panthers were always a favorite and he didn't pull any surprises. Michigan State, West Virginia, Tennessee, Rutgers and Penn State were also considered.

Overview: By far, Boyd was the main target in Pitt’s offense this season with 91 catches for 926 yards but just six receiving touchdowns this season.

Farrell’s take: I regret not making Boyd at least the No. 1 player in Pennsylvania over Robert Foster back out of high school. Foster had a great Under Armour week and Boyd might have been over his head a bit at the Army Bowl having played quarterback for much of his high school career, but I really liked Boyd a lot and it doesn't surprise me he's in the first-round discussion. He's a gamer, a winner, and he is dynamic with the ball in his hands. With slot receivers making a big impact in the NFL, he's perfect for that role. I had him behind Will Fuller initially, but he drops fewer passes despite being not quite as explosive in his route running.

Really nice find. This got me thinking. I have to believe that had Foster come to Pitt with Boyd, his talents would have him in the same position Boyd is in right now. Going to Bama, getting lost in the shuffle, red shirting, losing a year to injury. His career hasn't quite gone the way he or his dad thought it would. That stunning decision to change his mind at that press conference has cost Foster literally millions of dollars.

Hindsight is 20/20 but I sure hope that bag of money was a really big one.

who knows what would have happened. A bit naïve to think if Foster comes here, both he and Boyd would be second round picks after their junior year.

Naive? You don't think Foster wouldn't possibly be positioned to make a lot of money in the Pros right now compared to his lot at Bama had he come to Pitt?

Who's naive?

Are you saying instead of Boyd or with him? Sometimes people want to get the hell out of beaver county and Oakland isn't far enough. I've been to beaver county plenty, cant blame him.

If hindsight is the game, I really would have been happy to see Boyd, Fuller, and Foster at Pitt, now that would have been a big plus all 3 years.

Wish them all the best too, Foster is still at Bama and when he did play, was very good. He can still play this year and in NFL with NCS Ring too.

Hope he heals and Boyd, Fuller and Foster all go to put more Pennsylvanians in the Hall of Fame. Pitt being right up there with Notre Dame and Bama Players in Canton, Ohio, is just fine with me.

It's still too early to write Foster's football obit. A lot can happen between now and this time next year. However, the clock is most certainly ticking louder than ever before.

And dumb recruits choose Alabama, right?

No way, that is your words and question not mine.

Smart Recruits choose many Programs that end up fulfilling their goals. I don't put down Foster at all and he got a NCS Ring and still can win another and do exceptionally well, in the NFL.

Just knowing Boyd is and was happy at Pitt and was smart choosing a Program that help him learn and play the game that will can put a lifetime of money in his pocket and that was a smart move by him. Still, up to Boyd to do it in the NFL like Fitzgerald has proven.

Fuller chose ND and did great for him there too. Foster still can meet all his goals too. All 3 can still define to meet the challenges and goals in the NFL as well as in their lives after the NFL

Rival's Farrell said he made a mistake on not picking Boyd #1 way back 3 years, and gave good reasons are changing his mind.

Pitt is still finding, attracting, and producing Players right up there with USC, ND, OSU, Michigan, and Bama. Clearly, showing they have smarts at the Top too.

Some team GM will take TB in the 2nd round and be thanked for his insight in a year or two. Who knows if foster will ever see the NFL. His dad pimped him and is scum for doing so.

Sure I am aware of it, and use it often. However, it has some errors depending when Players are added and some include Undrafted Practice Squad Players that are often cut later and still kept on the listings. Some list Players name twice too.

It also does not include the NFL Records, Pro Bowls, NFL, NFC, & AFC Player of the Years Post-Seasson Awards, Current NFL Team Records, and Players Top NFL Statistics.

By lacking listing such criteria that website is a poor reflection of a Former CFB Player being of Higher Quality than some Average and later proven Less Talented, and #1 Draft Busts listed that made a team for 1 or 2 years and then gone, for whatever reason?

There are also Websites that have listed every Player that went to a CFB Program. along with many articles listing what CFB Programs have put the most talent in the NFL, and Hall of Fames.

I mean, if one wants to become a Top NFL Player making millions and earning Post Season and Post Career Honors and Awards, Pitt is one the Top 5 Programs to do that and Pitt fans can brag about that and should be proud of it.

After all it is a proven fact and only some other CFB Programs Fans that may have more NFL Players in the NFL, but more Busts and don't stay that long, nor get Post Season Awards, get upset about it.

I have a close Penn State Friend that brags all the time about how many more wins they have, series wins, and Players in the NFL and smiles? I then just show him how many Articles have been written on Pitt producing Higher Quality Players for the NFL, Hall of Fames, and Post Season Awards compared to the Articles showing Penn State with the most NFL Draft Busts, and he gets angry and all upset about it?

When I show him how many don't last long in the NFL and even if Penn State produces more NFL Players with their great Recruiting Camps Resources and bigger Rosters, they have produce less Quality NFL Players that cannot match Pitt NFL Players Record, Honor, and Awards, and that included the Pre-Post-Paterno Era, he goes even more bonkers. He mentions numbers of less talented PSU NFL Players, and I mention Pitt Names and Awards and he shuts up because he can't refute it?

The Thread was started due to finding on Rivals some of Farrell's recruiting highlights of players as they turned out as player getting ready for the NFL Draft. He is also honest enough to comment on what he considered his mistakes when these players were recruited. Now getting ready for NFL careers they have to prove all over again, but will get bigger money based on how they get drafted based on how they played CFB?

Pitt does not have the same High Number of Players drafted or playing in the NFL compare to USC, ND, Bama, ND, OSU, Michigan, and far bigger roster CFB Programs and Recruiting Powers, but Pitt hangs right with those above with Pitt's Past Former and Current Players than those Programs above and above others that more players in the NFL, but not as talented based on Records, Stats, and Post Season Awards.

Smart Recruits choose Pitt, because they know it is a proven fact it is has always been and still is a College Football Program where if you have talent you play right away, learn the game, and and do not have to wait and sit on the bench like at other bigger Programs.

Pitt Players show that kind of special superb talent of learning the game by playing right away, and that can be seen in their College and Pro Ball Careers, even the past 100, 40, 15, 5 years, and 2 years, and still showing and proving Pitt Is It!
