At 2-3 and heading off to Death Valley, it was looking like Pitt was going to finish in the bottom half of the ACC Coastal. But this past weekend changed things a lot.
At 3-3 and home games upcoming against Duke and Syracuse, Pitt will be favored to win both, and if they do, will finish 5-3.
And with UNC and VT both losing this past weekend, they are both 5-2. They'll both be favored in their last ACC games, but they are rivalry games, where anything can happen (just ask UNC about their game against Duke.)
If they would both get upset - I wouldn't bet on it, but it could happen -- they'd end up 5-3 and Pitt would finish in a three way tie for first. Pitt would lose the tiebreakers for the championship game, having lost to both teams, but nonetheless, Pitt would end up tied for first.
A bit of a long shot yes, but its possible, and just a week ago, any thoughts about Pitt finishing tied for first in the Coastal were preposterous.
