EXCERPT:
“I had a good experience, learned a lot and just took everything in,” he added, noting that technique, speed and strength are areas he will continue to look to improve in the offseason. “I try to learn everything I can and just become better.” Jackson's positive outlook and willingness to learn at Pitt came as no surprise to his high school coach.
“He's probably one of the top three athletes I've ever worked with, but his demeanor and his willingness to be a team guy and his great attitude ... anything you ask him to do, he's going to focus his energy on it,” Quaker Valley coach John Tortorea said. “I'm just so happy for him right now.” While it was Jackson's first year on campus, the 2015 campaign also marked the first for coach Pat Narduzzi and his staff. Jackson credits Narduzzi and cornerbacks coach Renaldo Hill for helping to improve his game. “They helped me a lot,” Jackson said. “They really pay attention to detail. It's not all about the physicality and everything else like speed. They pay attention to detail and make sure your technique is perfect.”
In Narduzzi's first season, the Panthers (8-5 overall, 6-2 ACC) registered eight regular-season wins for the first time since 2009. An exciting season for the fans at Heinz Field, it also was a good year for players like Jackson, who were part of a team with marquee ACC wins over Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Duke and Louisville. “Just being a part of seeing the success that we were having and everything, it was pretty cool,” he said.
