It seems like Pitt has lots its identity. It is hard to define what Pitt's basketball currently stands for.
We used to be known for:
1 hard nosed defensive team. Not this past year.
2. Tough minded kids, usually overachievers. We have gotten a lot of Diva's lately starting with Birch. Our kids are starting to leave at an alarming rate
For a variety of reasons.
3 Eastern ?Basketball team. We are in never never land right now. Not in an Eastern conference and we certainly aren't a Southern team.
4. Great coach. Dixon is still a very good coach but he needs some talent. I think the assistants have to be reviewed.
5. The Pete is a great home court advantage. Not so much this year.
6 consistent program. Haven't lost this yet but it is certainly under attack. Pitt cannot afford to start over pre Howland.
Everybody knows we are struggling. Dixon included. It is also something a couple of great recruits couldn't fix. Basketball is not Football.
Somehow we need to get our identiy back. We cannot afford to continue to float. It will be critical for Dixon to adapt and acknowledge the problems.
