There appears to be a new philosophy in Pitt's football recruiting.
At least to me it seemed like under Chryst that the position coaches at first went after kids and then funneled them up to Chryst If there was interest.
It seems to me that under Narduzzi he is taking a far more active role in initiating recruiting than was previously done. In almost all the articles the kids talk a lot more about Narduzzi than the position coaches.
Again in my opinion I think Chryst was far more involved in the day to day coaching and did not focus as much on recruiting during the coaching periods as Narduzzi is doing.
I for one like the approach. You have to have the talent in order to coach them. I think the head coach has so much more influence in attracting kids than the assistants that this is time well spent.
The jury is out as to whether Narduzzi can close on the top kids and can he coach on game days. But at least to me he is giving his all to recruiting
which I think will pay dividends down the road.
