Craig Meyer from PG ballot:

POY: Moses Wright
ROY: Scottie Barnes
DPOY: Jay Huff
COY: Mike Young
Most improved: Justin Champagnie

1st team: Wright, Champagnie, Huff, Carlik Jones, Keve Aluma

2nd team: Matthew Hurt, Sam Hauser, Jose Alvarado, RaiQuan Gray, Aamir Simms

I swear media bias exists everywhere.
But in Pittsburgh it’s opposite and against the hometown team

I hope you arent suggesting a player on the team that finished 12th should have been POY

Don’t think the media bias necessarily exists everywhere like here. For example it’s not nearly as much in the non-professional team markets Lots of fanboys and cheerleaders in the towns where the college teams are the only ones in town. Those guys know much better than to 💩 where they make their living.

Just how it is. Been that way forever in my experience. Don’t expect it to ever change here.

If he was the best player he should have been.

But I would have no problem with someone voting for Wright, or Jones, or Champagnie.
He probably isn't gonna win. But you'd have to think he would be in a much better position to get the award if his 2 teammates didn't transpire to stop passing the ball to him for over a month.

I don't think he's going to either. But if he does I wouldn't be shocked. I don't think they release the vote totals for that, but if they did it wouldn't surprise me if whomever wins gets less than half the votes.
Right but my point is not only was he the main focus of our opponents, he was also being kept away from the ball by his own teammates. It's crazy.

Plus the Refs conspiracy against Jeff Capel and Pitt. I mean, without that we would be undefeated
True forgot all about that. Glad Capel went on a tirade about the refs yesterday. He is doing such a great job of course the officiating is the only reason we are not the #1 seed in the ACC Tournament.

Moses Wright is a very good player, but he isn't even the MVP of his own team. I would have gone with Carlik Jones

That’s a good ballot. Champ had an awesome year, but the POY talk was always ridiculous.

No it wasn't. Until the collapse Champ was on pace to win it. Not sure what you are talking about.

Meyer is a clown. I remember the presser right after X and Toney left and he kept pressing Capel.. fishing for a quote to put on Twitter and Capel basically told him to stfu. Glad he told him to.. it was cringe worthy.

On February 1st, I think you could make the case easily for Champ as POY. But the last month hasn't been so good for him and the team.

I would agree. At the time, Pitt was in the NCAAT field and even challenging for a top third finish. As it ended, Champagnie ended up putting up very good stats on a bad team. There's always guys that put up great stats on bad teams.

I don't think the talk of POY was ridiculous. He was definitely worthy of consideration. But it's not a slam dunk and there are 2 or 3 very viable candidates who you can't argue one way or another if someone voted. I don't mind Meyers votes.

I think Saunders voted for Champ.

Basically this. Wright has had a great season and led GT to 4th in the ACC. Clearly the original poster doesn't watch much ACC basketball outside of Pitt.

He was asking the question that most Pitt basketball fans would have asked.

And does his research and is a very accomplished writer. Anyone who has a problem with Craig is far, far too paranoid.

Ok Craig. I'm not saying you don't do your research. Don't turn the conversation into something it isn't.

Hounding Capel, trying to get a quote on 3 straight questions was ridiculous. Has nothing to do with your hoops knowledge. Has everything to do with getting a quote to put on Twitter.

OK. You got me but I'm really his Mom. And OK maybe he took that particular incident a bit too far but overall he does a good job of covering Pitt. But that incident and his votes certainly do not deserve a thread titled Pittsburgh Media Bias!

To be fair, I wouldn't have voted for Justin of PofY either. And he did give him the nod for most improved which I'm not sure I would have done.
