Pitt rolled in the last two sets!
First time I ever have seen challenges on 3 consecutive points, and Pitt won all 3.

Set 4 PItt 25 Lou 12. After the Set 2 loss, Pitt Women brought a sledge hammer to the balance of the party.
Pretty sure she was challenging because she was out of timeouts and just wanted to huddle her team up.
Those challenges were Hail Marys and quite annoying.
Pitt hit into a lot of blocks the first two matches but really took control by the third and kicked ass the rest of the way. Very fun game.
Fish tried to experiment with trying to get markovic some time in the front row and using two setters. It really didnt pan out too well.

This was the best hitting game I have seen Van Buskirk have. Louisville was trying to have two blockers on the outside setters and Akeo went to Van Buskirk enough to foil that strategy. She finished 12-15, 80%, which is an unreal percentage in volleyball. Of course, the fact that she often was hitting against no blocker certainly helped.
Akeo had the best serving game I have seen her have and her setting was much improved tonight. She still has a habit of immediately serving again to a hitter who either was blocked or hit out of bounds. While I assume the purpose is to restore their confidence, when the other team picks up on that it will lead to problems. She did it a lot in the first two sets, including 4 sets in a row to Williams, all of which resulted in Louisville points. But she did a much better job of disguising where the ball was going to go in the final two sets, including twice hitting it over herself.

I’d be curious to go back and watch that rough patch when Williams got blocked four times in a row. More specifically, I’d be curious to know if there were 3 hitters in the front row, becuase the Ville’s blockers had no problem setting up shop in front of Williams. I don’t think the passing during that stretch was very good either, and when the passing is bad, it makes blockers’ job way, way easier becuase a bad pass limits where the sets can go.
On the other hand, in games 3 and 4, Louisville’s passing was a hot mess to the point where they couldn’t get a good swing on the ball, and that made life for pitt’s Passers and hitters very easy and the Louisville’s blockers had a tough time covering all the hitters. That was the point when LVB feasted on Louisville.
